When did Jim O say this? That should have gotten more coverage than Shams “league sources” BS.

It was a few pages back but the way it was worded kinda led to some speculation as to if he meant that the official sit-down meeting was still happening, but he said point blank that "by the time the Combine had concluded on May 18th, Giannis and the Bucks had met and talked".

Would once again be hilarious to watch Shams, Windhorst and all these clowns crawl back into their holes after yet another offseason of presenting their blind speculation/wish-casting as actual rumors/sources.

If it speculated the other way they’d be leading ESPN with it for the next month. It was nonsense based on absolutely nothing too, just cherry picking together interviews over the years about Giannis commenting on winning and the making **** up about him being “open minded about playing elsewhere” because Dame is hurt apparently.

If he's not on the table we move forward.

The thing that sucks about option 2 is Horst/Doc's presence. Would be a lot more hope for me if that was a different pairing.

If the Mavs are compelled to choose a direction, I think they would trade Flagg, because they took so much heat on the AD move, out of pride they don't want want to invalidate it half a season later.

So I think them dealing it is still very plausible. And Giannis would be the best win now option in a vacuum. Fit the timeline. But it seems more likely at this point they are deluding themselves into believing an 18 yr old makes them a contender right now, or they'll split present/future interests.

At this point if Giannis wants out can't let him have any say where he wants to play.

Just seeing Jim O's MJS quote seems about as encouraging as we could hope for at this stage:

By the time the NBA Combine ended on May 18, Antetokounmpo had some conversations with organizational leadership about the future of the team and remained happy in Milwaukee with no real intent to leave, and therefore no trade request had been made. In all his years, he has never requested a trade, even though he has regularly applied pressure on the team to keep upgrading to the roster.

Longtime NBA reporter Chris Haynes said Antetokounmpo was going to meet with Horst the week of May 19 for one of their annual offseason conversations about the direction of the team. Other conversations have typically occurred in the summer months.

Just a theory, but if Giannis wanted Doc fired and told Horst that this week, I’d also suspect they would wait a few weeks to fire Doc so it doesn’t look like Giannis is a coach killer.

Wow this is a great point too. What if he's ultimately remembered as a Maverick or whatever?

Like Ray Allen the Celtic.

That's not the same. If Giannis won multiple rings with another franchise, it would probably make him more universally revered. He has given us 12 seasons and everything personal or team wise that the game could give. Allen, uniquely, had equivalent levels of success in all 4 places. Some younger fans may only know about him from his Miami days...

Certainly not the exact same thing. But if the media pumps footage of his other championships into his career highlight reel (and they definitely would), then it's likely most people would begin to associate him with that team over time.

Also not the exact same thing, but do people regard KAJ as a Buck or a Laker? Do people even remember he played in Milwaukee?

And in this era with even shorter memories and attention spans?

I can't be the only one here who doesn't give a **** what anyone else thinks regarding Giannis (or anything else for that matter). :dontknow:

I'll remember his time with the Bucks, couldn't care less if no one else does.

Jim did say this on Reddit yesterday:

Not sure why anyone would think he would request a trade/not be back.
There has never been reporting of a conversation and/or desire about him requesting a trade, ever, and despite the misreading of the half baked ESPN thing the day of the lottery, there was never an inclination he would ask for a trade.

You're probably not the only one. But I'm not as enlightened as you.

I don't want Indiana to win because I don't want Haliburton's insufferable behavior rewarded. I don't like the Vikings because their fans are smug (somehow). It brought me great pleasure to see Boston lose because of all the Massholes I've encountered throughout life. The Cubs breaking their curse sucked because they look down on us.

In sports, I'm as petty as it gets. And so yeah, it will annoy me to no end if some large market tries to claim our superstar - the guy who made NBA basketball relevant in Milwaukee, who brought the entire community together in civic pride, who helped the world know that there exists a city called Milwaukee, and they were at the apex of the basketball world.

I don't want Silver and coastal jerks who look down on us to take that from us. Especially to chase the chance to be mediocre a few years from now.

I can't be the only one to feel this way.

Nope. Im with you on this. Maybe if the Bucks had controll of their own picks i could be sold on a trade to rebuild but they don't and won't for a while.

Unless Giannis forces their hand im rolling with the one thing keeping me invested in the league right now. And that's Giannis on the Bucks.

It's allready been annoying having media outlets trying to ship Giannis every 6 months for the last 7 years. **** if im willingly signing up for them to try and act like his time in Milwaukee never happened or a waste

KAJ 2.0 would suuuuuck. We still need what to do whats best for the franchise if were in no mans land tho. Him staying and us being in nonstop limbo playing .500 ball would suuuck just as bad maybe worse.

Does anyone act like LeBron in Cleveland didn't happen? Or do they consider his title in '16 the crowning achievement in his career?

Sure if the Bucks had beaten a 73 win team in the finals after comming back from 3-1 down in the finals after the feel good story of him returning to the team that drafted him, and his home state, with unfinished business no i don't think a Bucks tenure would be quickly written off

I really think you guys need to care less about The Media. Giannis isn't the kind of player who's gonna let The Media push him out of Milwaukee, and if you don't like what they say, you can just not pay attention. It's super easy.

Not just 7 first team all-NBAs in total so far but 7 straight. Only other dudes to do that: Magic, Bird, MJ, LeBron, Shaq, Duncan, Kobe, and Malone.

I don't care how much trading him could restart a rebuild. I want him in Milwaukee until he retires. His presence is more than having the best player in the league on a team. It is a sign that great players can stay loyal to small markets, and that players don't need to change markets to have global impact. You can move anyone on the team, except Giannis. He is the best player in the history of our franchise and he took our franchise to the promised land.
