In our last mock draft, we had Portland taking international big man Rudy Gobert in the first round, yet conceded we had no clue what the team wanted to do. It turns out we’re not alone. There are reports indicating that if the draft were held today, the Blazers would trade this pick because they’re not enamored with any of the available players.

John Canzano of The Oregonian reports he’s hearing whispers that if there aren’t any prospects that can help the team out immediately, team management will look to deal the pick.

Portland needs a SG and aren't interested in BPA if they aren't legit bench players next season or better. They brought in Pope and reports are they didn't care for him. I thought we were.going to trade JJ there this spring, but Id keep my eye out for Afflalo for the 10 if they can't get another SG somewhere.

Doesn't an Afflalo/Matthews duo seem a bit redundant? And is AA that much of an upgrade over Matthews, to justify the deal for Portland?

I agree with Ben on this one. I dont think theres much seperation between the two.

I think Matthews is pretty good personally. Only reason I can see them doing that is if they don't like him or if they want to just be deeper at the 2 spot?

I'm not on the Oladipo wagon but if we can deal AA and then do something like

McCollum
Oladipo

I'd be on board. They would compliment eachother nicely IMO. As would

MCW/Schroeder
McLemore

Sure route tells me McCollum and O but that ceiling on MCW and Ben is pretty crazy. Ahhhh sucks to be Rob this month lol

I know we are pretty clear on wanting Oladipo or McLemore as the future SG but what about going the route of Trey Burke and then going after a SG like Tony Snell/KCP or Jamaal Franklin?

Could anyone see us go this route or do most think we will use our top pick on a SG and then try and pick up a PG from 10-20 if we can grab another pick for AA?

I'm pretty intrigued by Franklin, Snell, and Hardaway JR as of late.

brings up a point I thought about, but hadn't posted.

2. Orlando Magic
Ben McLemore (SG, 20, 6-5, 189, Kansas, freshman): Orlando is in the early stages of a thorough rebuilding process and could use a little bit of everything at the moment, including a starting point guard (Jameer Nelson has just one more guaranteed year on his contract), small forward and power forward, depending on how it views Tobias Harris and Mo Harkless. After winning just 20 games last season, the Magic can hardly afford to be married to any of the players on their roster and will need to select the best overall prospect they can acquire in this draft – regardless of position – because they have just one pick in the top 40. McLemore is likely the most talented prospect available here, and could easily push Arron Afflalo to the small forward position where his skill-set is better suited despite his lack of size. Trey Burke, Anthony Bennett, Victor Oladipo and others will get looks here as well, as it’s unlikely that we’ll have much of a definitive inclination of what the Magic will do with this pick until much closer to draft day. General Manager Rob Hennigan can afford to take the player he deems to be the best talent available, which in a draft like this, is a topic very much open to discussion.

The more I watch his jumper the more I think he can improve it.....

Most of these college guys with bad %'s have extremely broken mechanics but it seems like MCW has that down. For anyone that might have watched him a lot this year, what played a part in his %'s being so low? Was it just not falling or was it more his shot selection?

I d love to get him with the mini pick

If Ben and pido are off the board when mini pick they trade their pick for AA

Ideal draft:
#2 Ben/pido
#9 MCW

Yes that is kind of what I'm looking at as well. Didn't know he was already 22 though? Maybe slide in Schoeder here since he's only 19?

I mean he could be similar to a rondo in 2 years then he would still be younger than MCW is now?

I'm a sucker for youth and potential lol

Draftexpress is so far ahead of the curve when it comes to draft coverage, it's only a matter of time before they start charging for a membership.

Afflalo is already undersized as a shooting guard (not to say McLemore is taller). Arron at SF is not a good option.

Afflalo at SF is a joke. It's something you do if you have no one else that can play SF. The Magic have Harris and Harkless to occupy that spot.

This is fun. Jay Bilas and Chad Ford discussing who the best PG in the draft is. A nice Burke v. MCW debate. Ford doesn't see Burke as an all-star. Ford and Bilas both like MCW. Bilas thinks he has a nice stroke and can improve his shooting.

Victor Oladipo tells Suns reports he is coming to CLE in next couple weeks. Has also been to Orlando.
