So you have to deal with the possibility of him leaving or having to match an ugly contract to retain him. That puts a ceiling on what I'd be ready to give up to get him, even though I like him a lot.
Hart would be extension eligible during the season.
Thought you need 2 years after the last contract was signed? Maybe I'm wrong. Probably I'm wrong.

Second anniversary after extension signed, if the extension lengthened the contract to three or four seasons (including any remaining seasons on the existing contract). If the extension lengthened the contract to five or six seasons (including any remaining seasons on the existing contract), it can be extended on the third anniversary after extension signed.
Not sure if I read it correctly, but assuming I did his contract will expire (ETO) before we can extend.

His contract is actually 3 years, it has a weird mutual option 3rd year. I thought Bobby Marks said it was extension eligible, but I could be misremembering this minutia.

True, but he's better than Brook. He was a good player before Trae Young got there. Bud drafted him and really liked him. Not something I would pursue, but if they want to inaccurately scapegoat him and give him away for nothing, then I've definitely seen worse Bucks moves.

I don’t disagree with you but some stupid team is going to give Collins the money he wants. He’ll be an albatross from day one. I’d love him on a reasonable deal but this is all about the money.

Huh? He's not a FA, he got 4 years on his deal.

Oops that's me. I thought this was about his giant FA deal coming up, but it turns out it already happened. So, he's already an albatross with no trade value. Who wants to pay that guy $25,000,000 a year? The Knicks?

Numerous rival teams, meanwhile, say with even more conviction now than they did last week — when I first it reported on Wednesday — that they expect PJ Tucker to land in Philadelphia on a three-year, $30 million deal in free agency. If Pat Riley’s Heat can find a way now to re-sign Tucker, they will definitely surprise some people.

Maybe if his name was Denise instead of Dennis.
