No, if the Suns match an offer tendered by another team (and accepted by Ayton), they cannot turn around and trade Ayton. Essentially, the contract is signed with whichever team and then the Suns can either make the contract their own or allow Ayton to join the other team. Once the Suns match, there is a moratorium (I think it is a year) before they can trade Ayton. This exists to stop teams from agreeing to a deal in bad faith and/or teams and players colluding to a deferred sign and trade.

So in other words Ayton holds the keys to whether we get Durant or not?

Not correct. They can include other players. Problem for them is Ayton would be BYC.

What is BYC?

What is BYC?

Base Year Compensation.

Instead of simply counting at his new salary for both teams like most deals, BYC free agents only count at the larger of their previous year’s salary or half of their new salary for the team sending them out. What makes it harder is that they still count at their new wage for their new team, meaning the same player’s outgoing and incoming salaries can be very different.

Have you lost your mind?!

We just went to to the ECF, you're gutting the team's future and might not even make it better for next season!

Spoelstra would better use Simmons then any previous coach has. Also, having the whole organization behind Butler, Spoelstra and the Culture things could turn around for Simmons... at least enough to send him out for a boatload or another star.

3 team trade send Simmons to another team and pick up another star along side KD and Jimmy

What's a 34 year old (post Achilles rupture) who just got swept by Boston actually worth?

Bam and Herro? :noway:

At that point we're praying that Durant (34) and Butler (33) stay healthy for an entire 82 game regular season and a playoff run!

Simmons is a terrible fit with Jimmy, He has serious back issues AND mental issues.

KD is getting old fast and already looked bad VS Celtics.

You're giving up Cornerstone Bam + Herro + every future asset possible for what Exactly?! The 1 last year KD might still be elite in? To pray Simmons can actually get on the court?!

My boy just called, he is giving me another juicy packet of information around 5:30PM shts, literally hitting the fan with a thousand scenarios, confirmed Lowry, Duncan, Herro, Jovic, 3 first, Caleb, Bam out most likely. PJ & Dipo out on their own. Yurt staying, Kyrie, Ben & Durant all three gone with Durant to Miami, Kyrie headed to another team, and Ben to another. Brooklyn gets Bam, Herro & majority of the picks and Caleb + 2 more FRP's from another team. However he said that could change, Philly has no assets to get involved in this right now, they are outside looking in. Phoenix is one of the teams absorbing Ben Simmons with Fillers going to Miami to make up the difference. ok I tried to type all this sht as best as I could on a 4 minute long combo.

At PG sure, but what if he's playing point center or PF?

Kind of. He and the Nets would have to agree to any deal in order for a trade to happen....unless Ayton went to a 3rd team that sent the Nets assets. Something like:

Suns get KD and Bogdanovic

Nets get Collins, Johnson, Okongwu, and draft picks.

Atlanta gets: Ayton and Crowder

Thats what I was wondering. If Brooklyn would be acquiring Ayton via s+t, no other player could be attached or what?

Has to be seperate transactions and numbers need to match. It’s possible
