We need to go all in for him. Lavine and Vuc for Durant.

Gobert has set the market for KD. I think they're going to ask for 4 unprotected firsts, and they'll find someone who'll give it.

Phoenix can offer four. I think Miami can offer three. We can offer three(POR 23, CHI 27, CHI 29).

As I've stated before, I think we can offer the best combination of players and picks.

Vucevic
PWill
Ball
Ayo/White

3 Firsts

That's a hell of a haul. And they would be able to swing Vucci Mane elsewhere for more picks or player combos.

minn put Kessler in the gobert deal is there any reason we couldn’t put Terry in a trade?

We could 100% include his rights in a deal before he signs his rookie contract. After he signs it, I think we have to wait a bit.

Brooklyn is now probably looking for something more than what Utah got for Gobert.

Yeah, good luck teams.

I think the Jazz getting 4 picks for Gobert actually opens up the Suns getting Durant.

The Jazz look like they're retooling around MItchell and not tearing it down completely. I saw they're interested in Ayton.

Durant wants to go to the Suns, but the Nets seem to want Booker instead of Ayton, which seems unlikely. What the Suns can do is S&T Ayton to the Jazz for a few first round picks and a rotation player. Then package those picks along with Bridges, Cam Johnson, or whatever they can do to fill the salary requirements for Durant. The Nets get a decent player in Bridges and probably 5 FRPs for Durant.

And what if Ayton doesn't want to play in Utah? People keep overlooking that he's FA and has to agree to where he goes.

It'd be hilarious if Utah turned around and traded these picks for Durant.

Personally I think it is just too much hype surrounding the KD asking price. He just isn't the generational piece that will singlehandedly will a team to win. So few of those anymore. And with his decline & baggage I wouldn't offer more than 2 FRP's plus the Portland pick.
What's to say he won't want out of his next team if things don't go his way or just outright threaten to sit out or retire?

I put a larger trade including BI for Kyrie, but the Pelicans seem really interesting for the sheer talent they can assemble.

They can trade a hodge podge of players plus 6 first round picks (a couple of them tasty Laker picks) for KD to create this starting lineup:

McCollum
Ingram
Durant
Williamson
Valanciunas

Obviously lots of injury risk, but that's raw talent like we haven't seen in I don't know how long.

Pat, Vuc, 3 firsts (and probably Coby). We can make this offer and still come back next season with:

C. Drummond/Bradley
PF. Durant/Green
SF. DeRozan/DJJ/Terry
SG. LaVine/AC
PG.Ball/Ayo

We still have our MLE to add someone like Montrezl Harrell too. Sigh. It won't happen.

What I'm taking from that tweet is that maybe the Nets' asking price is already coming down. Yesterday it was 'two all stars' and 'historical haul', and now it's just 'young star and three picks'.

The only path we have to being relevant and winning a title is by bringing in Durant. He may only be really good for 3 more years, but it's our only option.

Maybe if Pat had shown what Scottie Barnes has shown. Speaking of which...could the Raptors do it again?

They could theoretically trade Barnes/OG/Birch/Precious/parts + 4 firsts for KD

- FVV
- Trent
- Durant
- Siakam
- Boucher

I'm having lots of fun w/these 2K trades, but KD's one of the rare players where something this crazy can (and will) actually happen.

Meaning Brooklyn would have to accept Duncan Robinson, Herro, and picks, and they don't want to do that.

The only path? Come on, that's ridiculous. That line of thinking is what emboldens organizations like Minnesota to send out 5 future 1sts & a bunch of key rotational pieces for someone like Gobert out of desperation. Now their only path to winning a title is indeed through Gobert.

How do you think organizations like Toronto and Miami stay relevant? They stay competitive. They tread water, develop young players, build culture. They stay patient through the ups-and-downs and wait for the right opportunities to be aggressive buyers. Hell, GSW retooled with Wiggins + Poole and won another title. Funny how that works.

I'm not saying Durant isn't worth pursuing, but this fanbase spends far too much time catastrophizing every minor setback, real and perceived, without thinking rationally in the context of the broader future.

The NBA is turning itself upside down every single offseason nowadays. The landscape of the league is evolving. Durant won't be the only opportunity. There will inevitably be another disgruntled star in due time.

We have to maximize investment in player development because two things can happen: we have enough valuable assets to consolidate our talent further at the top in the future or or we develop our next core.
