I'm ok with Ingles signing but one guy was a quality 25-30 minute a game playoff performer when we could have signed him, one tore his ACL 6 months ago.

He looked to be on the downward slide of his career. Really important culture guy for that team though. They fell apart badly when they lost his vet presence.

He looked like he’d lost a step though. Wasn’t staying in front of guys defensively as well as he used to. His three point shot dropped off alarmingly too.

Hopefully the time he has needed to take to rehab his knee will give the whole body a bit of a refresh. If we can get 90% of prime Utah Jingles it’ll be great for us. If we get final year Utah Jingles I think he’ll be a one and done guy for us.

I wonder what stage he is at. Do we have the same knowledge as the bucks? Or have they seen him shooting at this point?

How long does it take a 34-yr-old ACL to heal? I’m guessing since surgery was Feb 23rd, the dude is probably still sitting on a couch.

Yep. Promise I wouldn't have been upset with not signing PJ if he had torn his ACL after the ASB, not doubtful of signing Ingles if he had just been one of 8 rotation players for the champs.

Ibaka for cheap wouldn't be the worst signing, he didn't really get much of a chance I thought last season but if he's healthy & in shape he's as good as any 5 available. I do think we need another guy that can protect the rim and besides Brook and Giannis, last year our defense was night and day different once Brook got back. Robin, Papagiannis, Dwight?

We're paying Ingles enough that there is some expectation to contribute, the injury and his age are ugh. I thought he was more of a vet min guy. :-?

What's a bargain for a guy you really don't want to play, though?

1/$4m.

Rather just sign Bonga or Papagiannis.

Could Papagiannis actually be useful? All jokes aside it actually seems like he turned his career around post NBA, would be interested to hear from people who have followed Panathinaikos pretty closely the past few years.

I think the legend of PJ’s championship run with the Bucks is still blinding basketball fans and pundits alike. In this year’s ECF he had a +/- of -34 for the series. Even if you remove his -30 outlier game when Boston blew them out. He was still a negative for the overall series. If he was our one big move this offseason, we would need him to perform better than he did against Boston which I don’t see happening as he continues to age.

Is he a bulldog who can defend the opponents best player any given night? Yes but he’s clearly not the impact player he’s made out to be this offseason.
Would I love for him to still be here? Yes but not if we are having to pay him $10MM per for his 37-39 year old seasons.

This is why we signed Ingles. He can provide the bulldog mentality but also provides excellent passing and floor spacing to boot. His on court value is much higher than PJ’s even while being significantly less athletic. Sometimes we forget how much a high BBIQ is worth in the playoffs. Look no further than Draymond at how impactful playing smart can be even when having significant limitations. (To be clear,
I’m not saying Ingles is on Green’s level.)

I understand the hesitation due to age / injury, but man, if Ingles returns to form, that upside is huge. He’s everything the Bucks could use; shooting, playmaking, son-of-a-bitchness, and playoff balls of steel. I’m cautiously optimistic & low-key excited. We can afford to wait with him. Having another playable playoff rotation player would be huge.

Interested in any combo of Vanderbilt, Beverley, and Clarkson if the Jazz strip mining operation continues.

Utah has been through the Grayson Allen experience already — could see him having more value to a third team.

Puzzle pieces on PJ coming together. Ira WInderman said PJ getting a $10mm+ annual salary from Philly was really important to his ego. He never made eight figures before. That lines up with the rumor that he wanted 2/$20 from the Bucks last summer, and once rebuffed then went to Miami for less (and Florida has no income tax).

I'm down for either, but for someone actually helping us, give me Ibaka who shot like 38% from 3 for the clippers last year over the guy who shoots less than .1 3s a game

How do we rate Clarkson vs Beverley?

At a glance: Clarkson has an extra year on his deal and is a better shooter / scorer.

Beverley in turn is much more of an impact defender and more of a true PG. Right?

I thought Ibaka looked decent in the stretch from when the Bucks acquired him up till Brook came back. He looked cooked in garbage time in the playoffs but hard to gauge anything there. Age is meh, though.
"Wes, Hill, Ibaka, Allen, Nwora, Brook, Pat, Ingles, Khris are all slow-mo, injury prone ... a sandcastle waiting for playoff wave to get wrecked. A castle with no long-range archers... is destined to fall. That is all I have to say."-- FOTIS

I also thought Ibaka looked alright during his last few games before Lopez returned. Maybe not a borderline star like he was at his peak but certainly an adequate bench big

I think it might be more prudent to target a center who is a contributor in the current landscape of the NBA (Ibaka 5 years ago would’ve been nice)

Guy is beyond cooked. Didn’t seem like he ever gelled with any of the guys here either.

Agree with that but im always looking on the o side after that debacle against boston. Can never have enough scorers especially one whose good at 3 pt shooting.I know D wins championships but as long as bud stays in his drop D you will need shooters

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
