He’s worth a look if you trade away Kuzma. Definitely not better than Avdija.

It’s a no brainer pick up though.

Celtics just signed Sam Hauser to a 3-year deal.

He looks better than Hachimura to me. I don't think he is better than Avdija though. You can't ignore Avdija's impact on defense. It's also worth nothing that Roby is 24 - a full 3 years older than Avdija.

Sheppard definitely ought to see if we can pick him up off waivers. But I suspect there will be teams higher on the waivers priority who will grab him first.

Dunno if Sekou Doumbouya & Mac Mcclung will remain on their G-League team, but DoumBOUYA will have to get his sh*t together overseas, looks like he busted.

Sheppard should be all over Roby. His advanced stats are surprisingly decent. And with a 7'3" wingspan he can play small ball center in a pinch. Question is: why did OKC waive him?

All hinges around how Tommy solves our glut at the 2-4 positions. Both Kuzma and Rui are due for contract extensions...and I guess we can only play one (at best). And then there is Todd, who for all intent and purposes looks like a bust.

This is the downside of their strategy to acquire multiple picks every year. You can only develop so many players at once. They already have Beasley and Poku at PF; they drafted Jeremiah Robinson Earl last year; and they just drafted Holmgren and Dieng. And that's just at PF. They also have a bunch of other roster spots dedicated to developing young talent, guys like SGA, Giddey, Mann, Jalen Williams, Ty Jerome, Theo Maledon.

Other teams should be circling OKC like vultures, waiting for them to offload talented young players that they can't fit on their roster.

I'm sure OKC contacted every team in the league to see whether they wanted Roby enough to trade something for him -- i.e. a future R2. & you would think Tommy'd have a close/friendly relationship w/ Sam Presti. For sure OKC would rather see a kid like Roby go the Eastern Conference rather than stay in the West, where if he's successful they'll be reminded of him frequently. IOW, we are a better place for their cast offs than SA.

In this case... we do have an awful lot of PFs on our roster.

Also did they sign him or pick him up off waivers, because we might not even have had a chance to pick him up at that point.

I'm sure LA held some appeal to him regardless but I'm not nearly so sure other teams were offering him substantially more. Bryant still has potential but he's been a net negative every single season of his career and it's not like he's been on great teams that make him look bad by comparison. And his total games played by season: 15, 72, 46, 10, 27. Teams don't throw significant money at guys like that. If he can stay healthy and prove himself, he'll get paid again.

I can't wait for late Jan where LA fans are trying to use him like a blue chip and offer him in trades for guys like Beal ECT

The Grizzlies traded down into R2 to pick Kennedy Chandler at #38.
They've just signed him to a 4-year deal at something over $7m.

What a pathetic franchise! They'd already drafted both Jake LaRavia & David Roddy. Can you imagine? They had to add 3 rookies! A well-run team like the Wizards would never do something like that!

Wait... actually make that 4. They drafted Vince Williams in R2 as well.

Can you imagine a smart guy like Tommy ever doing something as stupid as that?

Harden's 2-year $67M deal makes more sense than Brad's deal.

What’s a more wasteful paying a guy $63 million to play a year of basketball or me buying a $14 cup of coffee from a Starbucks in the middle of nowhere. He’ll be 36yo the year they pay him $63 million btw.
