They aren’t getting traded. These signings are a sign of a team trying to ignore the noise and run it back.

Warren on a vets minimum move is a contender like signing and I think KD signed off on it because he followed him earlier on Instagram. It was also rumored he was going to sign but waited until the KD trade talks got finalized…but it didn’t. Hmmm.

We have a lot of room to still improve the roster. T-MLE and another couple vet minimum signings will say it all.

Didn't we use the TLME to re sign patty ?

No. He got a non-bird raise.

I don't know about that. It's possible, but it could also be possible that he wanted an opportunity at significant minutes to prove his health. That's not as attainable with KD on the team.

It's also worth mentioning that Barnes is uncommonly ugly. I watch basketball for the beauty of the game and not it's participants, but 82 game of looking at Barnes face would make me question my fandom.

Not incredibly racist, not at all. My goodness I am backing out of this sub-forum.

I'm honestly not sure how Toronto passes up a starting lineup with FVV, Siakam, and KD. That's a big 3 that fits together really well and gives them 2-3 years of contention. And they'd still have some good depth with Porter, Prescious, Boucher, Thad.

FVV is good but undersized, and both KD and Siakam are thin. Presumably, Toronto would be giving up their sizable wings (I.el Barnes, OG) so unless Masai can find enforcers are on the cheap, I don’t think that would best Boston or Milwaukee. The game plan for the East’s elite would still remain the same: Be physical and impose your will.

I think the best thing is to go into the season with both of them. I would not bend at all ever again with Kyrie. The office has to set an example of who is in control. Kyrie is delusional. Durant should not have been so quick to ask for a trade. That’s childish. I mean Kyrie made his bed and he’s the only one responsible for it. He should have met with the brass and discussed ways he could help the team get better and then negotiated a contract. Kinda like what Harden is doing. That would have been best if he indeed wanted to stay with Durant who obviously already chose a long term commitment to the team. What is kyrie’s goal? It should be getting a chip. He comes off as demanding max money instead of sacrificing for the good of the team. It’s sad because the team has so much talent, even Mills stayed which shows commitment. Durant lets his emotions get to him, it’s best to let this situation get some time before any trade occurs. Maybe he will see the light and stay. He’s a true competitor and I seriously doubt he will not play at his best level.

Allegedly, the team has had conversations with KD and Kyrie since and things have calmed down. If you can decipher Kyrie code the words he uses to describe it are "Everybody won" and "It was a stick up." He's talking now like KD + Kyrie want to stay.

This might be the Nets working with Kevin just to get more leverage for a trade. If teams think we're operating ready to go for one more season, they might stop holding back assets in a trade.

Or maybe KD + Kyrie actually had productive talks with the team and they actually prefer to stay. Or KD + Kyrie felt like they were losing power in the organization and successfully got Marks to back down. Maybe the KD trade demand with the negative PR and weak offers actually spooked Tsai.

Very confusing stuff.

I disagree. KD and Kyrie had the power for years; Marks and Tsai have jockeyed it back and reminded them literally who pays the checks and constructs the team.

KD has to ask Marks to send him to a good team, if he wants a trade. Marks doesn’t need to oblige. The Nets can split 7/11 and send them to destinations where they’re sure to compete against each other and one, if not both, may not be able to join a contender for the rest of their careers (as key cogs).

IMO, this isn’t the Marks capitulating. This is he and Tsai saying we will stay together only under certain conditions, otherwise you’re screwed. KD and Kyrie dared marks to pull the pin out the grenade thinking he wouldn’t drop it in our house and Marks said “Oh yeah? Watch this.” They’re panicking and probably realizing that he house they currently have isn’t so bad after all.

Marks and Tsai should not give an inch to KD or Kyrie.

No rehiring their coaches. No firing anyone. No special perks.

If they decide they want to come back they can do it our way. Otherwise good bye.

The only thing I would give them is a 2 year extension to Kyrie. Which is what we offered in the first place.

The reason these rumors are starting is because KD is realizing he isn't going to Miami or Phoenix. And he has no interest in spending 4 years in freezing ass Canada.

I wonder how Thirty Five Ventures is going to do when hes not even in America anymore LOL. Good luck doing all the entertainment **** you liked doing in NYC.

Last time the All Star game was in Toronto is was literally -20 degrees. Theres a reason Kawhi got out the second he could.

But if he wants to leave that bad he can go play in Canada. And Kyrie can sit at home unless Dallas decides to swoop in and offer us Dinwiddie.

Here are my top 3 offers for KD.

1. Celtics- Jaylen Brown, Smart, and two First Rounders plus pick swaps.

2. New Orleans- Ingram, Nance and five first rounders plus pick swaps

3. Toronto- Scottie Barnes, Siakim and four first rounders plus pick swaps

Outside of those offers I'm not interest in anything.

Boston, New Orleans and Toronto can worry about convincing KD to be happy there. Not my problem.

This is why Marks made the moves that he did. The Nets literally have probably one of the five best rosters in the league with a bunch of shooters around KD, Kyrie and Ben. Any team we send KD to will be gutted.

They need to quietly report to camp in September

Suns fan coming in peace… is bkn not worried about value dropping for KD? 35 yr old KD is going to be worth a lot less then what he can bring back this off-season.

Exactly. If teams can't meet that price, there will be no trades.

Not convinced. Those same deals will all be there in February when teams are more desperate to contend.

I think the only concern is if he gets injured or if he continues to insist on playing 40+ minutes. Aside from that he'll still shown he can be an exceptional regular season player.

Basically.

And who knows maybe feelings change with a motivated playing for a max Kyrie out there with him. Simmons too.

Plus, we have zero reason to accept a less than game changing offer right now

If we're going to dump KD for a bunch of role players like what Phoenix and Toronto are offering, we might as well do it when he's 35 and not 34

Harden quit on Houston and played like crap and he still brought back a haul. He even brought back a decent haul for Brooklyn this year a few months from his opt out essentially demanding a trade to just 1 team.

That's why i've been saying the bidding starts way beyond the Simmons/Curry on the player part of the deal. Or else why bother? There's plenty of room for KD to bring back that kind of haul while playing worse than he has. And if he plays the way he has his first 2 regular seasons teams it's going to be a mind-boggling bidding war.
