Yeah let’s crap on the guy for being a good dad having fun with his kids.

This is like when an NBA team has a bad game and someone sees a player playing a game or something and they start ranting about how they should be in the gym lol. Yes, every aspect of their lives has to revolve around their job. Before the internet, I wonder if people questioned players when they saw them out at clubs or malls or whatever. "Why the **** is Drexler enjoying that drink with that woman? His team is on a 3 game losing streak!"
When luck shuts the door skill comes in through the window.

Was Jeanie Buss’ Kobe reference tweet talking about LeBron wanting to trade a future pick for Kyrie while the ownership doesnt want to?

Read on Twitter

Is Lakers addition of all these second generation guys like o’neal and pippen a precursor to LeBron’s kids playing for the Lakers? A way to hide nepotism?

I personally think his career’s trajectory will be similar to Blake Griffin. A lot of hype early on, losing athleticism and injury leading him to be a more below the ground skilled player

I just don't see Zion as anything more than a highly skilled injury waiting to happen. A ton of highlight plays, will sell tickets and merchandise by the boatload, and will be a regular on that ESPN top plays thing nightly, but as far as being the main cog in a championship roster? Not a chance.

Has to be at least somewhat a veiled shot at James, or why bring up Kobe? I mean, the 'team over self' reference couldn't be much more direct as a comment about James' entire career.

I agree. “You’re no Kobe” would not be directed at Westbrook.

I liked Kobe quite a bit (especially after he was done dominating the league). He's like one of 4 players I followed on Twitter because his personality was infectious and his social media was insightful. I miss his presence in the NBA world....

... that said, my dude was on an egotistical warpath between the years of 2003-2009. Demanding trades, getting people fired, nearly shot 30(!) times a game for an entire season. I have no problem with that, it was his prerogative and he earned the right to be a diva. But he wasn't this selfless saint (at least publicly) that Jeanie makes it seem.

Kobe was, in fact, a monster during his prime. I think Jeanie is, like all of us, willing to tolerate it when its "your monster." The Lakers sanctioned and allowed every egotistical step Kobe took where as LBJ is an outsider who came in with his own preexisting issues that the franchise gets to discover anew. Also, any hurt feelings with Kobe have eroded and everything is viewed with rose colored glasses given time, retirement and his untimely passing.

Yea, it's definitely rose colored glasses, just pointing it out since everyone, including the president of the Lakers, seemed to forget.

And I'm guessing they courted LeBron with the promise that he has Kobe level power on the team. You forfeit your ability to complain when promising that to LeBron, imo. But her tweet could have nothing to do with LeBron and this could be much ado about nothing.

You’re also more willing to tolerate it when the guy is 27 instead of 37.

You can't ask for team over self after already putting together a roster build around LeBron, Westbrook and Davis.

lebron is going to plot his way out of town. He's too savvy to ask for a trade but I doubt he's a Laker by the start of the season.

Words other than 'savvy' come to mind far more easily.

Some people say its directed towards Westbrook, its about Westbrook not picking up the option for his contract.

maybe she got limited knowledge on basketball and talking about someone like Rick Fox not being selfish wont create attention

Westbrook would have been a fool to not pick up his option. I can't imagine that she actually blames him for his presence in L.A. when it was James and Davis who pushed to have him there.

James is the defacto leader on that team, has been since he signed there. Referencing Kobe couldn't possibly make that comment directed at anyone else IMO.

The idea of Irving being traded for Russell Westbrook is *chefs kiss*. It's annoying that the Lakers will be extremely good, but Durant and Westbrook back together is absolutely hilarious.

Add Ben Simmons to the witch's brew and I might have to watch all the Nets games next year.

Durant won't be there, though. I imagine if he doesn't get traded he gets some mysterious injury, or gets elective surgery. I know they say "they're good", but a player of Durant's stature doesn't request a trade and then come back tail between his legs.

Yeah.. i think he’ll fake an injury and sit out the season

The Nets are getting hit with a reality check on Durant's worth.

The problem is that they would have to gut most teams to get Durant's perceived worth, making them teams Durant would refuse to play for. It's a catch-22 situation unless Durant embraced going to a team with a lot of young players that could offer the Nets a boatload of picks in lieu of players, but Durant has the James mentality of wanting a built-in superteam. He made his bed, and now he's going to lie in it.
