Weill you did make it up because your reasoning is a hypothetical where we traded the Mavs pick with the seconds to Charlotte to get #13. Let’s say I agree they’d have accepted that deal since they took a similar pick from Denver

So if we want to be completely fair in your scenario we have 11 and 13. And 4 fewer future firsts (the Mavs pick you traded, the two other picks from OKC we retained+the bucks pick we got from Detroit). And no Brunson and Kemba likely still rotting here?

No, Kemba is not still rotting here. Waive him and let it come off the books next season OR If you want to do the DET deal, then do it with either Duarte or someone we picked at 11. I think it's stupid to give up a lottery for an expiring but Knicks! We'd still have one of the selections to play or use this offseason.

robillionaire wrote:Not sure what your next move would have been but I would rather have Brunson and the 4 future firsts than 11 and 13 in this draft

S&T with Dallas using one of our MANY assets. This way we get Brunson and still have a ton of capspace to use elsewhere. You try this route first. If Dallas doesn't want a 1st for Brunson, then you use the pick(s) to free up space, butgiven the amount of movement we will see given the Ayton/Durant/Kyrie situations, we could have parlayed some good things as a 3rd partner as well.

We traded #11 pick, 6 SRPs, 3 expiring low/negative value players for 3 future FRPs, and cap space to sign Brunson.

2 of those negative players went in deals after draft night. We could've, and likely would've made those deals regardless. I am specifically talking draft night. And again, WE DID NOT NEED TO MAKE THE OKC DEAL TO MAKE THE CHA/DET DEAL. That Denver pick was not a make or break. We could have kept the #11 and used the Mavs pick to get the #13, so we did/could've had Duarte. The argument that "they didn't know" is the same argument every team has. They should've known better. We are a lottery team. You don't throw away lottery talent or trade it for lower draft picks. You maximize your lottery earnings.

It does not matter. We were not in love for no player in that range. And we do not need any player right now to aggravate the logjam. We can keep the picks to use them in a future trade. It's more challenging trading players than pick especially if he does not have playing time.

Indiana drafted Duarte past year draft. This year draft there was no Duarte avaliable.

I think we have at least 70% odds to convey the picks.

Detroit pick is protected 1-13 in 2025, protected 1-11 in 2026, protected 1-9 in 2027. I think it unlikely they will be out of playoffs 2 seasons for now for 3 consecutive seasons with Cade, Ivey, Duren, Bey, Burks, and 2 more lottery players.

Wizard pick is 1/4 this season, protected 1-12 in 2024, protected 1-10 in 2025, protected 1-8 in 2026. They should keep Beal for the long run. They should fight for the playoffs or come close.

Bucks should be weaker in 2025. I can not see they getting the Top4 picks. But they might be a middle of table team.

and Hartenstein who may not register on the radar as an important pick up right now but during the season he will prove to be an impact player for the Knicks.

If a player did this to Thibs they would ship him to the Kings for a protected 2nd. He knew Austin Rivers from his childhood and they damn near cut him when he was quoted for complaining… let alone a recorded eye roll about playing time

Nets is messing up…..

I'm just wondering what in the world the Lakers have to offer for Kyrie.

Not much. Who else wants him? If New Jersey can get a pick, that’s a good deal. Lakers have a chance of crashing and burning once Lebron is done.

Does it matter? the Lakers always pull off a trade for the star like the league pushes the other team to do it or something....
