i hesitate to say anyone looks bad in SL at this point for the rooks just b/c it's a glorified scrimmage but LaRavia hasn't been great.
I guess I tend to think SL is only useful as a benchmark where if a player looks like they don't belong then they are unlikely to be a rotational player in NBA. It's a low benchmark and not meeting it is a big red flag to me. Being over that benchmark doesn't guarantee anything either.
SL has no ability to rank players are nor can it show you who the best players from the class will be.
of course not, all you gotta do is wind back to last year and see some of the Evan Mobley takes in SL lol
Yup
In my opinion 2 guys tend to really shine in SL. On ball players and athletic wings.
On ball players: Easy to see why, they have the ball in their hands the most and get to dictate the action the most. So when their shot is going in, they can look like superstars in SL.
Athletic wings: There really isnt that many good athletic wings that play in SL. So when you have a guy like Tari Eason (not crapping on him, just using him as an example), there really isnt that many 6'7-6'9 good athletic wings in SL. So a guy like Eason has a nice advantage. But once the season starts, most teams have multiple talented athletic wings on their team and all of a sudden there is a massive step up in opposition for these young athletic wings.
While the off ball players and bigs (non point-forward) kind of guys tend to look horrible. They usually have to deal with over enthused guards who dont pass the ball and when they do pass the ball, its in crappy situations. Then these guys will tend to overdue it because they realize how little they get the ball in good situations so the times they do get the ball they play out of their game.
Pretty much cant draw any positive or negative conclusions from SL. SL is pretty much just good to see some of the top young picks go up against each other and see some 2nd year guys play more aggressive and show they feel more comfortable compared to last SL. But with how much teams are sitting these higher picks out, not sure there will be much point at all for SL in a couple years.
