I wouldn't be surprised if guys like Woj and Shams check in with their sources after seeing cryptic tweets like this just in case.

Id feel more comfy if we didnt already get a 6 foot PG for 104 million. Mitchell would immediately make Brunson less useful. He is gonna have the ball less here than he did in Dallas. He just makes no sense with Mitchell, but I actually care about defense so silly me.
Id rather have Mitchell be the quasi PG alongside Grimes.

Points of contention:
Founier has 2 years on contract, neither Beasley or Beverly did
Mitchell better, younger, we want more assets (debatable, just what Jazz say)
Knicks can offer as many unprotected picks as Wolves - three
The rest of the fight is over the perceived value of the last pick, it's likelihood of being high -gap in value of Wolves 2029 top 5 protected and whatever the Knicks are offering as the 4th pick, fight over valuation of Bolmero/Wessler vs "Knicks young cheap players", the value of those players to the Knicks in terms of keeping them and roster, vs the Jazz trying to get their "value" in the trade, and probably a thing where on the one hand the Knicks might be willing to give them a pick instead of a player - so imagine it's 6 picks and NO youth, or even 7 picks and NO youth, but Knicks themselves have an idea of which picks, in what year they are trying to keep- for strategic drafting/trading in the future, what is too many years out where Knicks could suck again, and so on.
And of course, one last trade proposal
Fournier/Rose/IQ/Sims or McBride/Knicks 2023/Knicks 2025/Knicks 2027/Mavs 2023/One 2024-5 Wiz-Pistons/Bucks 2025
7 picks, 3 are Knicks, 4 Knicks acquired, 1 "draft/young asset" type in IQ and Mcbride or Sims the "decent 2nd round guy"
Knicks keep Grimes, Obi, even Cam, Ainge get EIGHT f*cking picks/young guy of 1st round quality
Swap in Grimes for IQ if you want, not sure how Cam is perceived - he's a first round talent - good, but expires - also Ainge might like, but then he counters he'll have to resign and cap hit or lose.
It's pretty easy to come up with a meat of the trade. The delay is Ainge dbaggetry and Knicks trying to stave it off.
Helps Aller is here who can kind of look at Ainge with his valuation charts etc and go "come on Danny, WTF" and Ainge screws up his puss face and counters with another outrageous demand and so on until it gets done. Or not.
Just a heads up, Sims recently signed a contract and can't be traded this summer. I like the deal as well.
Ah, sorry. Keep forgetting. Was told that once before.
Thanks, and good, I like Sims. Also, he'd at least be an asset of some kind for the future.
Also, I called it "7 picks" in the bolded part but it should have been '7 pick/young assets', where IQ is that 1st round value young guy, and 6 picks.
And I get Jazz and Knicks are going to punt this around.
And we fans are homers over player X vs Y and maybe the Knicks have zero issue putting in Grimes WITH IQ to save a 2027 pick. We don't know.
I just like putting together a trade where the Knicks have a lineup with some depth left over, seems fair and in line with what Jazz want. I'm sure some will criticize with THAT'S TOO MUCH or MITCHELL ABSOLUTELY DEMANDS MOAR VALUE IN TRADE or IQ AND GRIMES SUCK, NOT ENOUGH
Gobert got 4 picks, 2 early 20's draft pick guys, 1 2nd round guy who plays a little and 2 decent vets both who expire after this year. And 1 swap.
If Knicks add 2 picks, or 1 pick/1 player, they've met and exceeded the Gobert "haul"
I've done a zillion posts, I guess there is a way to get really deep in the weeds about "value of Wiz 2024 vs Wessler" or whatever.
If Knicks are willing to trade unprotected 23/25/27 - that's the meat of matching the Gobert draft picks.
And yeah - not directed at you - of some roster construction issues potentially with Mitchell, that Mitchell isn't Kobe or MJ or LeBron.
I think he's good, will help, there can be a path to improving after IF Knicks don't get ass raped, and they shouldn't, it won't be easy, Knicks will be decent, there's risk in giving up a good amount - which it's just going to take, come on, for not Kobe etc.
Knicks can do with one 1st round youth picked in the 20s, 3 of their own #1 picks out to 2027 (yes, a risk etc) and 4 picks that aren't their own, including 2 or 3 they just got. For Burks, Noel and a pick this year.

In theory they want 10-11 players for Mitchell. That is a stupid amount, especially when you consider Mitchell doesn’t actually fill a need for this team. We’re not trading one problem for another we’re just creating a few problems for Mitchell and would have no realistic way to solve them.
