Where does Gobert rank in the most talented Wolves of all time?

Looking mostly at All Stars, here’s some players to consider:

Garnett, Marbury, Gugliotta, Sczerbiak, Cassell, Love, Towns, Butler, Edwards

How does one define talent? I made my choice based on how much I think he will impact wins and losses. How good he is.

I think in 5 years from now, we'll be talking about how three players from the current squad are on the Timberwolves Mt. Rushmore.

A lot of variation depending on how you define "talented". Some of these guys have obvious physical talent that doesn't or didn't necessarily translate to good basketball. Others have figured out how to maximize the talent that they already had. I gave credit to both and tried to group into tiers.

Tier 1 - KG
Tier 2 : KAT, Love, Butler, Gobert, Billups, Rose
Tier 3 : Ant, Jefferson, Roy
Tier 4 : Wiggins, Lavine, Laettner
Tier 5 : Marbury, Gugliatta, Cassell, DLo, AK47, Spreewell, Porter, Rider, Terrell Brandon, Antoine Walker, Pek, Rubio, KMart

You think Garnett will be bumped down to 5th best all-time?! :o

Right I don't see how that's possible.

Rose?

And is Roy getting a "lifetime achievement award"? Because he played 5 games for us.

I think Neeva sees KG as getting so excited over this team that he comes out of retirement and rejoins the Wolves.

KG, KAT and Ant are the only Wolves on his level. I said 3rd right because Ant is only in his 2nd year and still developing.

Does his not playing a game for us yet diminish his talent? I don't think so.

Can't believe the number of people thinking Gobert > Towns.

Yeah, I really struggled putting the idea behind the question into words. You guys both did it better.

I appreciate the struggle, but talent was a poor choice of words. JR Rider could easily be the most talented Wolves player ever.

Rudy has much greater impact on wins and losses and check Basketball reference the stat Bible. Rudy buries KAT.

Probably has to do something with the trash bags KAT played with since a Rookie vs Gobert.

Compare win shares last year. Pretty similar, the one year they had semi equal teams.

Kat's a very good player. I like him, but when looking at the big picture KAT is a top 20 player. Rudy is a top 10 player. I'm thrilled they are both on OUR team.

If Michael Jordan played one game for the Wolves, would he not be one of the most talented Wolves ever?
