Re: Booker Discussion, news and highlights
If this article is correct and Book does become a top 5 player in the league, then yeah, this deal is a no brainer.

The deal is a no brainer regardless. You have an all NBA player and this is the market price to keep them, whether we like it or not.

You're not a bonafide superstar until you grace the cover of 2K
Thus Michael Jordan was not a TRUE superstar until 2011 #facts

Didn't making the cover used to be a curse? Like every player that made the cover for years got injured? Or was that Madden? Who was the cover last year? Hopefully not Zion.
Edit: I guess Luka was 1 version last year but in 21 which was when last year started it was Zion, AD and Lillard on various covers.

Luka was 2022, year before was Dame and Zion. Year before that was AD (lol)

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Even if you don't think Book is a true superstar in the NBA, superstars want to play with him, that's worth something

Yeah exactly. These stats are all nice and cute but the guy choked at the biggest moment of the season. That too after losing an embarrassing game 6 in which he said after “I’m looking forward to game 7, it’s gonna be fun” etc while grinning harder when saying that than he probably ever did seeing Kendall naked.
For reference ;
Spoiler:
I love Book for putting the Suns on the map and all but nobody in their right mind will consider him clutch. Same thing with CP3 (and for good reason because CP3 conveniently gets injured and sucks ass in all the biggest games of his career).
Book is at least young enough to where he can change the narrative. LeBron was looked at as a non-clutch player as well after his performance in the 2011 Finals but he’s turned that narrative around since then of course.
But **** like him smiling after an embarrassing game 6 and offering up only “Just looking forward to game 7” when asked about his (6-18 shooting in gm 6) and his team’s performance in the game 6 (30 pt loss) and then proceeding to get humiliated in the most humbling way in maybe NBA history (definitely in franchise history) is a mindset he’s gonna have to change.

I'm pretty sure Games 6 & 7 count as hard.
I can't wait to see how Book, CP3, DA, Mikal, Monty and the rest of the team respond this season.

I think it's safe to say when he thinks of "Game 7" he doesn't associate it with "the best two words in sports" any more.
He is clutch but hasn't shown he is clutch when his back is against the wall in an elimination game (where Suns could be eliminated). We have had 2 of those...Bucks (look at his game 6 stats - https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/202107200MIL.html ) and then game 7 against Dallas.
Few players are big in those games...Kyrie, Luka (but had 2 game 7 or 6 losses to Kawhi 2 years prior to this year), Kawhi....not even sure who else....I guess Giannis....probably Jokic since they were down 3-1 to the Clips in the bubble and staved off elimination 3x.

Re: Booker Discussion, news and highlights
But players always have to go through playoff adversity before getting over the hump. That is why I always thought it was a tall order for people to have the expectation to win it all. Even against the Bucks...they had the best record for 2 years prior to when we met in the finals and lost in earlier rounds so wouldn't go down easy. Especially Giannis and Middleton.

Yeah I'm not pinning Book's entire reputation and career on a couple of poor clutch showings. Every winner has far more failures than successes.

Yeah, I'm not too worried about a couple of bad showings by a young player either.

Jordan lost a few times in the playoffs but was dragging a not great team at first. Once the team was really good they dominated.
Hard to compare anyone to Jordan though.
Book should get better in the clutch in elimination games, but that is some big time pressure. Where if you lose you are done. Some people play better under those circumstances like the guys I named above and some worse, but I don't know how many of them ones who play great did in their very first ever playoff elimination games.
