This win-now push that’s starting to run through this fanbase is bizarre to me. Especially after our last rebuild.
I think Suggs/Fultz is the starting backcourt - unless it proves itself unworkable due to lack of shooting range. I'm confident that both will improve enough this season (particularly Suggs) BUT, if they don't, Suggs' "development" isn't the only issue to consider. A non-shooting backcourt will cause Franz & Paolo to work in a crowd of constant double and triple-teams. I value their development more critical and having them playing in quicksand would be a horrible setback to promoting team play ('pace and space" per Mosely). It's a double-edged sword...I'm pulling for Suggs, but he's now the 3rd highest development priority, IMO. Harris could fall into the starting spot - not because he's our SG of the future, but because, "DEAR GOD, CAN SOMEONE/ANYONE PLEASE HIT AN OPEN 3 BEFORE PB STARTS DEMANDING A TRADE".
I am all for Harris as a terrific backup SG...but not if the guy ahead of him just isn't that good (yet). Long term, I see the obvious trade targets being a taller 3&D threat at SG. Guys like Poole and even Mitchell would be great, but their on-ball dominance might not be exactly what this roster needs. Gary Trent or Devin Vassel types might be even better.
