I also think you should look historically at some of the best SGs of the last 20 years...most of them didn't have great PGs/depth. That's because when you put the ball in the hands of your talented wing, the need for a PG decreases.
1. Rudy and KAT will likely slow the pace a bit. I know Finch wants to play with pace, and I am not saying we won’t try, but I think a bit less pace is inevitable.
2. Ant has ball handling issues. I love the guy and hope he turns into the next MVP, but he sometimes dribbles off his own feet. He also tends to ball stop too much, dribbling for 10-12 seconds before either shooting or hot potatoing the ball on a low clock. I want Ant to take the leap, but I don’t want him to do it without a safety net.
3. I think this roster is our most talented EVER. I don’t even think there is a close second. I also think Finch is our best coach EVER and I know there isn’t a close second. I trust his judgment. When he sees these guys play together, he will make a determination. If he thinks Rivers or Nowell is enough depth, so be it. If not, he will likely have TC course correct on small and not very sexy moves.
Edit to add: Unless we move Naz for draft assets on the theory he is too good to stay and not get enough minutes next year, then all our moves are 3rd string margin moves. Our top 9-10 are set. I don’t see any big trades unless they involve upgrading Dlo, and even that I don’t think happens until the deadline. I think everyone from ownership to coaching staff wants to see Dlo play with Rudy. Any moves we make before the season will be very small and based entirely on camp and the preseason. Injury is the other variable, but we all have our fingers crossed for a healthy season.
