Depends. Is he being a bad teammate and chucking and not playing defense?

He is very unselfish and scores in the flow of the offense. Also a very good defender.

Well yah, in that case, sign me the hell up lol. But yah we know his scouting report. Knicks signed this kid way too fast for them not to be super high on him.

We basically traded assets to replace Noel with this guy.

He's solid. Going to be a really nice fit off the bench. He will keep the ball moving on offense and is slowly opening his shot up to the 3-point line.

Thanks. So why didn't you guys resign him? Are you up against the cap?

They have a $144m to pay in luxury tax as it stands.

"You guys?" I take it you think I'm a Clipper fan. I am not. Haha. I mean, I love the entire NBA. And I'm intrigued with the Clippers if they can stay healthy. I was just posting about Hartenstein because I love that he's gonna get a chance to show what he can do this year.

What makes you think he'll get more than 17-20 mpg here, basically what the Clippers played him when they played him a bit more?
Or is that your definition of getting a chance to show what he's got?

Not being a wiseass. I like the signing and have learned he might have the chance to be special, or at least a high quality backup.
On the one hand, he should get decent minutes because Thibs gave decent minutes to Noel, who he replaces (when Noel was healthy). On the other hand, if Mitchell Robinson is going to get paid around 15 million a year, so have to figure that means around 28 mpg, at least.

Personally, I hope the Knicks play Mitchell 27, Hartenstein 16 and Randle 5 minutes at center.
And I'd like Hartenstein to play 20 minutes, but Knicks really need to put Randle at the 5 some to open minutes for Obi.
Plus, the take foul rule means Knicks should have Obi the floor more and if with Randle that means 5 players who can grab the ball and start pushing the break.
I think Hartenstein can do this as well, though.

Hartenstein should start and play the role of a 3&D center, like a Brook Lopez-lite.

Mitch should come off the bench, perhaps playing more minutes than Hartenstein.

We need 3 point shooting threats and defense at all 5 starting positions to overcome our lack of reliable talent.

We are asking Brunson to play like an allstar (reminds me of when we signed Chris Duhon, though Brunson is obviously better), Barrett to play like a superstar, and Randle to manage his emotions. That's a lot to ask for.

The Clippers did not have Hart"s bird's rights. Moreover, they used the MLE to get Wall. They only could give a minimum contract to Hart.

Here's some IQ highlights I stumbled across that aren't Hartenstein's finest minutes.

Might get to see some Obi/Randle minute after all.

If Obi needs Hartenstein to make him look good off the bench then the Knicks better keep Randle.

I think Obi is going to get more minutes than some people assume and Hartenstein is going to get less, and I'm a fan of this signing.

I think we'll see Obi at C is some small lineups, which I know is anathema to Thibs, but I think it's going to happen.

you misunderstand me. i meant that, as long as randle's here, obi's going to come off the bench, so we catered our bench center to this scenario

He's got San Diego as his location and coming to a forum he's not a regular on commenting about the Clippers so I think your assumption wasn't unreasonable and his butthurt about it is.

I'm barely on here between my work and life.

I'm from Oregon. That's where I was when I was writing poorly-written articles about the NBA Draft back in 2005 and 2006. I moved down to San Diego in 2011.

I currently live on Maui and have been here for four years. I moved* out here to live with and help keep my now-92-year-old Grandma company after her 2nd husband/my "Paka" passed away six years ago. My family (my Dad, his siblings and all their respective kids) didn't want to/weren't able to move out and it was a combo of crud hitting the fam for me between being homeless and drugged-out (my fam still doesn't know how bad it got) to me to come out here.

In regards to my "team," you can find me on Instagram or Facebook, but I grew up a Knicks fan. After we traded Ewing away, I decided to root for the Knicks but become more of a fan of the game itself. My family still has a cardboard presentation I made with articles and picture of the Knicks and Ewing I made in the 3rd grade in storage.

I don't profess my love for a team on the forums. I like to engage objectively on the sport.

Also, it's "unreasonable and he's* butthurt about it.* Not "unreasonable and his butthurt about it is."

Cheers, my dude. Apologies for the late response. Working 70+ hours/week between three jobs to get by here adds up. Still looking forward to the season and seeing how this team meshes together.

I can think of 3 other Knicks who wore number 55:

1. Kiki Vanderveghe
2. Louie Orr
3. Jarrett Jack

It’s kinda funny ,
I think Ihart and Mitch could flip flop contracts and the league wouldn’t even blink .

Return to New York Knicks
