kinda my point...I hate thibs. I think I could get juiced about this team if we actually invested in our youth. But instead I know what I'm about to see with Randle/Fournier tonight.
It's not Thibs's fault. These are two of our most talented players.
The FO is responsible for the direction of this franchise.
Randle made All-NBA and they paid him. They thought they could build on the success of 2020-21 and they added Fournier. Thibs is on the ground trying to do the best that he can with what he was given.
you have to also play a roster that fits together. Of course the FO owns there portion of the blame. But you don't play two bad defenders in the backcourt together...and playing Randle off ball will never provide enough returns.
You also need floor spacing and Fournier's the best shooter on the team.
Randle creates some issues because he's not an off-ball player and he puts a ceiling on a team as an on-ball player, but he's still arguably the most talented player on the roster after Derrick Rose. Sorry but any head coach would be invested in the revitalization of one of his best players just a year prior - and there's no doubt that's who Randle was in 2020-21.
The team has some talent but just lacks talent overall to be truly relevant. There's no magical formula within this roster. We just need to accept this.
It all starts at the top.
Besides, Grimes can't earn a starting spot if he's always hurt.
