Even with the turnovers and defensive lapses I’m going with Beal. He didn’t take a shot every time he had the ball, he had eight assists, and he hit the game winner.

Kuzma is a close second, crazy play and all. He had a good scoring game. Avidja might’ve been my POG if he played more minutes because he sure was effective when he was in. I think we’ll see better games from Wright but wow does he cover the floor. He’s like a pinball, covering everybody on the other team.

Gonna have a lot of games with a number of players who could deserve it. Going with Beal though. Game winner/8 assists.

Beal. Our SM player came through with clutch shots and solid D. Keep it up Brad!

Beal wouldn’t have been in the position to seal the deal if it hadn’t been for Kuz catching fire and playing well above his average.

As clutch as Brad was down the stretch, I can’t give him the POTG. 8 assists sounds great, but not when they’re paired with 5 turnovers.

This is about where I'm at too. It's one of Beal/Kuzma, with Deni being 3rd. My heart is leaning toward Beal, but the numbers really do favor Kuzma. Kuzma was really, really good in the first half.

I'm going with Kuzma.

That's when you have to play politics as a coach.

I do agree with the assessment that Beal's TOs really hurt his candidacy, a lot of them were just really poor effort or decisions.

I went with Deni. He as tasked with being a swiss army knife on defense, led the team in rebounds with 10, second in assists with 4 (with only 1 TO), to go along with a block and a steal, and the second best team +/-. Also made both his threes despite largely being ignored by Beal, Kuzma, and Porzingis. We won this game because of defense, that can't be ignored, not because Beal made a very difficult shot.

FWIW, Deni actually finished with the highest BPM on the team. And the DRtg numbers (which I generally don't trust that much) indicate that Deni and Wright were really getting it done on D:

Deni pulled down nearly half of all available defensive rebounds when he was on the court. :o

That's what my eyes were telling me. He was just making a big impact when he was out there in only 23 minutes. If he can shoot 36+% from three, he is going to be a really good player.

No doubt -- on a minute for minute basis, you'd give POG to Deni. But, Kuz was out there enough longer & played well enough that I think you have to give it to him. At least I did....

Still, it's nice to see 3 guys play so well....

Yet, even with that, we barely managed to squeak out a win -- in our home opener! Here's hoping KP locks in soon & that we get Kispert back soon as well.

Kuz carried for most of the game, Beal carried it late.
