Beverly’s defense has been a real positive force out there. He’s +14 over the last two games. Lillard is a difficult cover of course.
Up 98-90, Westbrook comes back and the offense and defense go to hell. 4-26 in his last two games.
Agreed, even if they shot at 25% from 3 then they win the last 2 games.
This is a good time to bet on the Lakers longterm, they are underperforming from outlier poor 3 shooting only.
Defense looks great and team is getting a ton of open shots. Westbrook probably shouldn't close out games unless he's shown to be part of the reason Lakers are winning.
The amazing thing is that they don’t even have many great defenders:
—James, AD, and Bev are plus defenders
—Toscano looks like a plus so far, Reaves can be a plus, Brown can be a plus or neutral
—Walker is a negative, Nunn is a negative and has been extremely **** on both ends, Westbrook is a negative, Jones is neutral relative to position, Ryan is a negative
At 98-90 and Westbrook riding the bench, lakers would have had the #1 DRtg after three games with A hodgepodge of players.
On another team with spacing, looks like LeBron could still score 30 a game. I don’t know—a trade might really unlock some, things as it’s taken historically poor shooting (25/118), to get to 0-3.
