Check the highlights of him playing against Wemby this year. Scoot was hot from 3 and scoring nicely in the midrange, but he was also playmaking and facilitating like a beast.
He’s built like a running back so in some ways he’s like a PG version of PB, probably with a more natural instinct for running point.
Those are exibition games and served no purpose but hype.
Victor himself is very, very, very talented, but he is not what he looked like in that first game. He won't be shooting off the dribble 3s on any serious basketball team. Look at his games in Euroleague and you will figure how green he actually still is.
Scoot shot 17% for 3 in G league and that was NOT coincidence. Look at Jalen Green and KUminga, they still look very similar how they looked in G league. One is onedimensional chucker, other lacks basketball insticts. Nothing really changed.
Scoot is pretty much execlly prospect that would be worst fit possible for current roster. Another ball dominant player who can't do much without ball.
People compare him to Derrick Rose, because of his speed & agility but Rose peaked at age 22, in different basketball era where 3 ball wasn't really THAT important.
Westbrook's impact on winning was never actually that big. Portion of his playoff sucess happend despite of him, not because of him.
Memphis to this date still wins games on defense and have identical win rate with or without Morant.
That doesn't mean those players aren't useful in specific situations or that Memphis isn't better team with Morant, but it's pretty obvious that arhytype of 6'2 uber athlete who can't shoot isn't very good recipy for playoff sucess.
To me it always comes down to notion that i would prefer OKC's SGA or Pacers Haliburton over just about 95% of draft prospects from 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Because those guys actually make people around them better and know their roles. Unlike majority of prospect you get nowdays. Who spend whole rookie contract , if not more, trying to find their nba roles. And if they pan out, it almost always happends on other team, not team who drafted them ( Lauri, Wiggins,Lonzo Ball, Monk, Kennard, Carter Jr, , Gordon, Randle , Lavine...).
