Lakers get a star and additional shooting and wing depth.
Charlotte tanks for Web, clears all their salary, and gets young prospects and two very valuable unprotected picks for Ball (who they know/think won't resign).
I like rozier, Hayward, and Pj Washington... for Westbrook, Christie, nunn, and the next available unprotected pic
Unprotected picks five years out from a middling team led by a damn-near 40 year old are valuable as hell. The Lakers were able to draft Magic Johnson and James Worthy with unprotected picks given to them by foolishly ran franchises. I'm extremely proud of Pelinka for standing his ground. Teams are obviously bending the Lakers over. I only give up an unprotected pick for a special player (ie. Ball or Irving). Otherwise, these teams can kick rocks. The Lakers gave up way too much for Davis and way too much for Westbrook. At some point you have to stop giving teams blank checks.
The price of all of this are championships. we did give up a lot for Anthony Davis, but we won a championship. The dumbest mistake we ever did was blow up our team, after winning that championship.
For somebody who has such high IQ, LeBron James made a huge mistake by pushing the front office. Westbrook was the biggest mistake our franchise has probably ever made, I can't recall a bigger mistake from the opportunity at hand. we don't do well with rebuilding, and we don't have the patience to hold on to players that are actually decent.
I know some mentioned players such as Lillard and Beal were talked about. I think if we can trade three picks for somebody like Kevin Durant and Seth Curry for Westbrook,Christie, and nunn. we will be solid for a good amount of years
