Have you guys tried to watch around the league?
I find that everyone is adding size.
Top teams.. Raps, Bucks, Pels, Clips, Celtics, Cavs, Warriors and etc.
Bottom teams.. Jazz, Magic, Wolves, Blazers, Thunders, Pistons and etc..
I find us being a really good team, if the game was played in 2016-2019 era. Switch everything then Embiid trying to score not against multiple 6’9 defenders swarming at him, Harden not being defended by a 6’9” defender switched at him, defenders not being used to everyone doing that harden step back that at this point everyone is used to defending almost 1/4 of all possessions.
We have too much 6’5” and below guys trying to play defense like 6’9” guys. This lead to guys not being able to jack up 3s that freely with a 6’9” guy closing out (look at how many 3s Danuel House passes up), our guys cutting to the basket and not being able to finish (biid getting blocked a lot during Bucks game, Tucker missing point blanks, Tobias getting blocked a lot, Harden getting blocked a lot last year), our pick and roll not as effective with muscular 6’9” guys being able to switch the Harden-Biid PnR, being short lead us being weak on transition defense, weak in closing out on defense and weak in generating deflections..
We have a defensive scheme that acts like Embiid is Mutombo, but those days are gone. He lacks the lift and he’s not THAT big anymore. Nowadays you get a 6’9” guy like Siakam or Tatum driving to Biid then lobbing it to a center around the rim.
Maybe after 10 games the world, not just looking at ourselves but also outside, is telling us something.
Maybe the problem is with us, but not totally about us but with us compared to the competition around us.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.
