I loved the way him and Daniels defended, rebounded, and competed when I saw him play live.

STJ really distinguished himself in this thread. Props to the man.
Really, the scouting reports were generally accurate on MJB, though the Ringer twice singled out his ballhandling for praise, easily the weakest part of his game at present. I think it was Mike Schmitz who drew particular attention to his balance on defense and that's the one trait that jumps out to me. Once he couples that with time getting Suki-fied, he's going to be a problem.
I can't speak to his mechanics on his shot, save that it looks good, I guess. I feel like he has more touch than Nwora, his ball less apt to get treated brusquely if it hits rim. Nwora is either dead-on good or it's a miss.
Moral of the story: you can do worse than to draft someone who aligns his training and skill set with what is most likely going to land him in rotation. It's taking the mindset of developing g-level guys for specific roles and extrapolating it to the draft..

Every once in a while though he breaks out a really slick handle, so maybe it is in there somewhere. And there was a kind of step back off that dribble 3 from the corner which looked very Tatumsy.

I guess I equate "loose" with not good, but I get where you're coming from. Same sentiment as Em.
Better news if it's a matter of refining what's there rather than creating something currently not in existence.

I guess I don't agree with this approach. We're trying to win a title, we're not in a position to force feed him starts. There's plenty of season left and there's plenty of opportunity to sprinkle him in. On the sports psychology side of things, it's important to keep his confidence level high, and I'm not sure adding that level of pressure is the best way to go about that, particularly when you consider the level of play guys like Jrue, Khris, and Giannis demand having won a championship.
He's had three really nice contests, and he's had duds. I don't think, given what we've seen to this juncture, there's reason to suddenly change course here.

His numbers are hilariously bad so far this year. 7 PER, 32% FG (34% from 2), negative win shares, Rockets are -21 points per 100 poss with him on court lol, worst +/- among rookies by a mile. He’s only on here because he was the #3 pick.
