I mean...it's literally not.

It’s a one dribble pull up, technically it’s a movement shot but usually that term is used for when a player is actively dribbling and pulls up or can catch and shoot from anywhere. Sometimes off of a screen, sometimes as they are dribbling up to the perimeter or around it. Most midrange shots are movement shots too but they aren’t called that either.

With that said a reliable one dribble pull up is rare in the NBA. If he has mastered that in college (and can show C&S ability) he’s probably going lottery as long as his defense isn’t atrocious.

How many players are we going to say are going lottery? Hawkins looks good, he's probably a lottery pick in a lot of drafts, I don't think he is one in this draft.

I'm assuming he can still workout with a thumb injury. He does look stocky though. Reminds of Justise Winslow.

Doesn't have his usual explosiveness back. Think he needs to get back in game shape.

I don't understand the allure of him. He has no basketball skill. Yet to even get a single assist this season.

Mitchell was actually a pretty solid connective passer in HS. He just doesn't have any involvement in the offense right now because he can't be trusted on the ball, and he's also not confident in his shot at this point, so he doesn't even space the floor but instead always moves closer to the paint for finishes. Certainly a disappointing offensive season from him and he's pretty much out of the lottery conversation for me but in the second half of the first round? I still like him with his athleticism, motor, and mindset. If he ever trusts his shot enough to space the floor (very possible), he'll find a role for himself in the NBA.

I'm curious: where do you rank Cam Whitmore at this point in time? And what is his draft range right now in your opinion (best and worst case scenario)?

I think I'd have him #3 tentatively. Nobody in college has really leapfrogged him yet in my view, and I was high on Whitmore coming in. For him to stay at #3, however, he'll at least have to prove that he is a menace driving to the rim even against high-level NCAA competition and shoots the ball well enough to be respected. I'll also closely look at his defense and playmaking (neither was anything to write home about in HS or with Team USA) but it's pretty obvious that his main value lies in – and the path to NBA stardom goes through – his ability to score efficiently at volume and that way put pressure on defenses. That has to be there for him as the foundation.

I can see him dropping as low as the late lottery but that would require a fairly poor college season with serious question marks about his ability to score and his ancillary skills (not taking into account the possibility of a major injury). I find it hard to see myself dropping him out of my top 10 and I'd say it's more likely than not that he'll end up in my top 5 (maybe 60/40, and 90/10 that he'll be inside the top 10).

I'm currently:

VW

Scoot

Amen
Whitmore
Smith jr

I'm not sure on the order of 3-5 but currently I like that as a tier. Then a tier of 4-6 guys who I could see getting into that 3-5 range but for now I see a bit more warty. Its early but I will say I'm really excited about this class.

I think the top 3 at the moment are Wemby, Scoot and Amen. After that, there isn't a lot of consensus on who goes 4 - 10. Cam could go anywhere in that range. Personally, I'd have him in the 6 - 8 range with Ausar Thompson and Nick Smith.

My top 10 are: Wemby, Scoot, Amen, GG, Black, Smith, Whitmore, Ausar, George, Br. Miller

My concern with Whitmore coming into the season is that he's limited as a self-creator and his athletic dominance won't hold as much at the NBA-level. That would put him in a situation similar to Miles Bridges. However, if he develops his game off the dribble, he's a much more valuable player, more comparable to a Jaylen Brown.

I haven't seen anything outside of highlights but why do people like Amen so much more than Ausar? Why is he at 3?

Just from the highlights Amen's shot looked awful, Ausar doesn't look great either but it looked like there was something to work with.
