Westbrook + Christie + 2 unprotected 1sts + a pick swap for DeRozan and Vuc.
I honestly think this is the reason why the Lakers are being patient with deals. I've been eyeing up Chicago as a blow it up team since the start of the season. They're below .500 and their schedule in the next 2-3 weeks is absolutely brutal. If they don't come out of that within close range of .500, they have to think about blowing it up. We have the ability to take contracts off their hands with the Westbrook contract.
I would also do everything imaginable to get Caruso back. The Lakers front office has to know they f**ed that up. Getting Caruso back would really help with fan engagement and correcting a clear mistake they made 2 seasons ago.
So here's some deals I'd do with Chicago:
A) Do they really want the next 5 years of Zach Lavine? Any buyers remorse?
B) Any buyers remorse on Lonzo?
We'd have the ability to take on both of those deals. So let's start with that.
LaVine, Ball, Caruso for Westbrook, Nunn, Gabriel, Christie, 2 1st rounders unprotected
DeRozan, Vucevic for Westbrook, Christie, 2 1st rounders unprotected
LaVine, Vucevic for Westbrook, Nunn, 2 1st rounders
They would have the ability to clear their cap sheet pretty quickly in any sort of a trade with us if they're having any sort of remorse with LaVine, Ball or just want to send DeRozan home.
Good post.
DeRozan is overpaid for the dirty work type of player he is but would be perfect next to AD and LBJ defensively. So would Vucević. I’d definitely want Caruso back in a CHI deal, but no LaVine for me.
Haven’t checked the math but DeRozan for Russell’s expiring would obviously be a great steal for us and would give them cap relief.
I know that it’s a stretch but Vucevic and Caruso for Beverly, Pippen, Gabriel, Ryan, Christie, D Jones and picks …? We’d be a contender. They’d be free from DeRozan and Vucevic, can rebuild.
PG: Caruso, Schroeder, Nunn
SG: DeRozan, Walker, Reaves
SF: LBJ, Reaves, JTA
PF: AD, Brown Jr, Swider
CTR: Vucevic, Bryant, Huff
