Yes, Mbappe is the highest paid player on the planet. Highest salary than anyone in the NBA. And he'll milk more "bonuses" soon since his contract is "short term" and he'll always have leverage.
Yeah, I just looked up the numbers and holy fcking sht. Again, he's probably worth it, but that's a lot of cheddar, lol. A handful of NBA players like LeBron, Giannis, etc would almost certainly command that without the salary cap. But European soccer is the wild, wild west in comparison.
Man, I remember my brain almost exploding when Hakeem Olajuwon went over $3 million per year back in 90 or 91. That won't even get you a decent 5th guard now.
Interesting debate... without salary cap... how much would some guys make in the NBA.
He is probably worth the money all things considered, but his team just print "monopoly money" from Qatar (PSG). It is what it is... what I mean is that they basically have unlimited resources and just seemingly launder funds. If this team purely relied on "real" revenue, they wouldn't be able to afford it.
Remember, this club also pays Messi and Neymar.

And many others. It's just ridiculous to look at their payroll.
Real Madrid pursued Mbappe for two seasons and were favorites to sign him. He used that to get that obnoxious contract (and he dictates many things in the way the team is managed).
Recently it was revealed the new contract is until 2024. So soon enough... he'll do the same thing and get another ludicrous signing bonus + salary.
