2018?

Maybe earlier?

After 2018 for me. Think I already had him as my GOAT after 2017, but I've reevaluated since then.
This place is a cesspool of mindless ineptitude, mental decrepitude, and intellectual lassitude. I refuse to be sucked any deeper into this whirlpool of groupthink sewage. My opinions have been expressed. I'm going to go take a shower.

I agree. LeBron leading that sorry Cavs team to the Finals was the moment that cemented him as the GOAT.

This is phrased in a way that is sure to invite flaming.

I don't recall, but probably within the last 4-5 years.

I’d probably still have MJ ahead, but I think anywhere from 2016 onward is reasonable. Though obviously Lebron hasn’t had a great season since 2020. Very likely his last go as the “best in the league” level. I recall saying something like that after it happened and people looked at me like it was a stupid take.

I dont think the thread makes sense as many people still view Jordan as a greater player on their "list" than LeBron.

Personally, I'm not sure, I could probably search my post history but anywhere between 2014-2020 makes sense.

I dont see a way how the 2021 or 2022 LeBron seasons somehow cemented Jordan or 2013 as Jordan still has more MVP level years at that point.

To be fair he started the 2021 season as "best in the league" level again and then got injured when Solomon Hill dove into his ankle. Without that injury it's most likely LeBron keeps that level of play up and the Lakers are not a play-in team avoiding the Suns in 1st round.

I mean fine, but I was already factoring in how harder it gets to stay healthy when you get up there in age and miles like that. You could even argue the shortened season helped an older Lebron even in 2020.

Thats a flawed argument though and any who says that is clearly biased towards Jordan.

You're not sure why an argument against LeBron and for Jordan in a thread of LeBron versus Jordan is relevant in a thread about LeBron vs Jordan?

Umm, the comment about Lebron’s post 2020 play was just a side note. It wasn’t meant to be a pro Jordan argument or whatever.

I seriously wonder how many who say Lebron James has passed Michael Jordan all-time actually watched Jordan over his entire career.

I watched his entire career.

Yeah man, Michael Jordan? Who ever saw that guy play. Only the most popular player of all time, no way people here could have seen that enigma.

Earliest would be after the 2016 Finals, and then after 2018 zero doubt remained and he was busier making his case against Kareem and Russell. Then the 2020 title was when I secured him ahead of Kareem and more abstractly Russell (although I still see the case for both).

I had somewhere around a 1a/1b scenario by 2018; 2019 gave just enough of a nudge that I felt comfortable with a #1 ranking. Everything after has just be widening the gap (but then: meaningful longevity weighs heavy in my criteria).

That said.....

^^^This. A LOT of people still rank Jordan ahead.
