And just think, he gets a $3 million dollar raise next season. $43.2 millionGrindCityHustle wrote:I don't understand why the Warriors won't trade him. Since they would have to take salary back, how much would they save?

KD is a way better athlete than Klay and way more skilled than Klay.
He did lose his burst and ability to get to the rim but he is near 7 foot and can just shoot over anyone.
Klay already struggled with getting to the rim and shooting over defenders from the midrange area, now he's abysmal at it.
I doubt Klay returns to being where he was, he is the prime example of a player that can't afford to lose a step because his game isn't skilled enough to compensate.

They can dump him on Indiana and since they are under the cap the Warriors could also get a huge trade exception.
Probably Buddy Hields contract.

His 3s are up but honestly I think you have it backwards. While he could hold/pass out of 1-2 3s per game, as a Warrior fan that's the part of his game that seems fine -- he's not the same 3P shooter, but this season and last he is a little over 38% in a total of 79 games between the regular season and the playoffs. It's been his mid-range that has been bad, 42.3% from 2 this season is not good. 3-10ft 40.4%, 10-16 ft 39.2%. and 16ft-3P 42.9%. He gets run off the 3pt line and needs to pass it but he often dribbles and looks for a shot now, which was never his game.Sane wrote:He'll get gradually better and see another improvement in his second season back. KD only had one of the two injuries Klay had, and KD has height going for him. Klay no longer can be the POA defender against strong guards. It's been tougher for Klay to get open and then get his shot off because he's a step slower, where Durant is so tall he often can just shoot over people anyway. It's part of why KD is such a cheat code.
At this point Klay needs to reduce his total shot attempts and focus on being efficient. Volume or dribbling Klay isn't good, but efficient Klay can still contribute nicely. If he cut 3-4 inefficient shots per game and started being a 13 shot per game guy instead of his current 16.6 shot pace he'd grade out a lot better.
But I do think he's still adjusting to his new reality and the desire to win and have good #s will eventually take over for him. I'm sure it bothers him that currently for this season he is under 40% in shooting (.399), he will find his new equilibrium eventually.
