Meaning he's willing to bench PJ. They're not going to bench Maxey (hopefully staggering). But, Melton starting was always my preference. Harden can defend 1-4
You have a link showing where Doc said that? If true that's awesome.

No... The announcers Rucco and JJ discussed Melton and his impact... Then whether to bring back Maxey as a "super sub"? They said they discussed it with Doc and he said the 3 guard lineup with Tobi and Joel was something he wasn't afraid to do or look to try.

Yup JJ Redick said it, for some strange reason this board wants PJ to start and Maxey off the bench tho lol

Because one of Maxey, Harden, or Melton is going to need to defend a 6’7+ SF every game.

Meh.
That really an issue for Harden? I mean, obviously he's a bad defender that you don't want matched up with a good offensive player, but I don't think that's any more of an issue with a 6'7+ forward than a 6' guard. Hell, might be preferable.
They end up playing zone half the time anyway.

Then we face the Celtics in the playoffs and Brown and Tatum take turns annihilating Maxey and Harden throughout the series. They are literally constructed to beat us: athletic stars, two lockdown defending guard, a big man that stretches the floor pulling Embiid away from the paint. Our team was built with no real strategy from what I can see. My guess is to enrich Harden and Morey’s old friends.

Isn't that the case regardless of who we start?
Melton might be our best defensive option on the team to matchup with Tatum.
I'm not really sure who the Cs will be starting come playoff time, but as of now you'd probably have Maxey on White and Harden on Smart, leaving Melton/Harris to guard Tatum/Brown.
