We desperately needed improved 3pt shooting, but he'd be better off on a playoff team where he can go back to being the 2nd/3rd option. He's not really good enough to be #1 and his complete lack of defense negates any value here.
Maybe it wasn't the plan b4 Cade went down, but I hope we move Bojan by the deadline.
What's the rush to move him? Are you afraid of him losing value by waiting? I think the Pistons are going to want him to help next year, when things should be aligned for them to make a playoff run.
I'm not a fan of his complete lack of defense and I'd rather try and get some sorta value for him. I'm sure he can help somebody and I think he'd rather be competing for rings.
I think we were hoping to be more competitive this season. Maybe not a playoff team, but at least competing for a play-in spot. In that context having a shooter next to Cade made a lotta sense. But the East is hyper-competetitive and unusually deep this year. With Cade's injury and a few other bad breaks we've completely dropped any & all pretense of attempted competitiveness. It may be early, but enough has happened that we've changed trajectory from where we may have been headed just a few short months ago. Maybe not ideal, but is what it is.
We're still not a good 3pt shooting team, but I think we can feel a little better about moving on from Bojan thanks to Stewarts improved shooting. He's clearly not the same caliber of shooter/scorer, but it's not like a year ago when Hayes/Diallo/Stewart was a suicide lineup due to lack of shooting. And we've added and will continue to add other pieces that better align with our long-term goals.
I'm not trying to scapegoat Bojan for the teams terrible defense, but it's easier to take from a young guy on a rookie deal. In terms of W/L and how it actually impacts our season, I doubt it makes any significant difference one way or the other. We're gonna lose with or without him, but if that's the case then like... what good is he really doing us and why not trade him?
