Jokic needs a ring to validate another mvp regardless of his team health or otherwise

Why?

Jokic needs to provide VALUE during the regular season, just like every other MVP Contender does.

And Jokic provides. Twofold. He not only provides the most Value for his Team, but for me as well.

Those guys earn trunks of money for throwing a ball through a ring and that means, they are hopelessly
overpaid for what they do - Because the game of Basketball (or any professional sport for that matter) as a whole,
has no real Value for Human Society.

Now, if we pay them these sums then at least I wanna be entertained to the maximum.

That's their job.

And of all the Players out there ... The Durants, Currys, Tatums, Embiids, Giannises ... Jokic is the player,
who entertains me the most.

Everyone else appears to be a well-trained, athletically freakish, muscle-memorized shooter, dribbler or dunker.

With Jokic on the other hand, I feel like watching a Magician on Stage.
I never know, what surprise he's gonna pull out of his hat, once he gets the ball.

That's why I gave him my Vote.

It's the icing on the cake, with the cake itself being the raw numbers that just underline the value
he provides for his team on the court.

Wether or not his Team ever wins a Championship is absolutely meaningless in this very Context.

Ans with that, it makes no difference if he wins it for a 3rd, 4th or 7th consecutive season.

The past is the past. The only thing that exists is this very moment.

And If I feel like he deserves it at the Moment. He gets it.

False.

They provide entertainment, joy, inspiration, stress relief... for those of us who like sports. That's real value, anyway you look at it.

those are my top 3 too :)

Denver is gonna lose some games, as much as Jokic's season is tremendous - he seems to me not fully enganged.

perhaps he is saving himself for the playoffs and gotten to the point in his career where saves a bit when he can on wear and tear, perhaps it has to do with having to integrate Murray and MPJ (plus the new guys), who knows maybe its because he has a baby on the way?

don't remember where but i saw him say something about the baby being the top priority in life for him

point is, with Dallas winning more games and Denver still very flawed riding on an easy schedule
I suspect Doncic will eclipse Jokic by season's end

unreal MVP race thus far this season

CobraCommander has it right. Post-2020 will be the period after the LeBron (and Curry) Era where you have a handful of all-time great players bulldozing their way to dominance as LeBron, Curry and Durant are still playing at a high-level. However, there has yet to be one single, dominant force emerge. Part of that is the depth of talent and amount of parity. Beyond MVPs, I would say it'll be really difficult for a team to repeat as champion in the next 5-7 years. We've had two b2b title teams in ten years, but with stacked rosters. It may be like the 70s where we see many different title winning teams (minus the rampant coke abuse).

Jokic is the clear MVP thus far, but I like that there is a host of candidates.

He will not win, or likely even finish Top 3...

But Zion has to get increasingly into the conversation. He's on the current #1 seed in the West and he is really starting to explode and just dominate games in a variety of ways, and is playing decent defense too.

The guy has just been getting better and better. Ingram coming back in a week or so will take some points away from him, but his assists and efficiency will go up.

The Mavericks have the best record in the West against teams above .500 at 13-8 (ahead of Denver who are 11-8) and the third-best in the league after Boston (13-6) and Milwaukee (13-5). Their record is dragged down by their performance (or lack thereof) against sub-.500 teams at 7-8 (even after this 5-game win streak), which is easily the worst of all top-6 teams across the league (the next closest are the 9-7 Bucks).

The Nuggets are 29th in SOS right now. That type of argument goes against Jokic more than any other MVP candidate.

I just realized Dallas is literately 3 games out of 1st place.

If Dallas finishes top 4, I don't see how you can argue anyone else other than Luka. There is not one quality starter on Dallas' starting 5, everyone outside of Luka would be bench players on most playoff teams. The Mavs are a bottom 3 team in the league if you subtract Luka.

The Nuggets have also played only 15 home games - where they are extremely dominant over last 4 season sample size - only the Blazers have played less home games in the entire NBA.

By a game lol. And on the road without 2 starters in the midst of a downward spiral for them. Not an impressive win, but obviously a great performance.

This! I just wanted to say the same, this era has 70's repeating all over itself. Bunch of teams that could win, some better some years, other better other years.

Yep, people say this like humans arent social creatures who crave community and joy. Whatever form that happens to take has massive value to society. We'd all go crazy without our various outlets and joys in life.

This is pretty hillarious to look at. 2 guys doing heavy lifting without real 2nd star on their team.

You have to remember, the Mavs are missing their key defensive players with this stretch and Luka's 2nd best player is Spencer. The Nuggets has more depth. If Jokic managed to win last year with his team at number 6 in the West, why not Luka if Dallas continues to win games?

The Nuggets last year, minus Jokic, are probably a middle of the pack g League team. That’s why.
