So if we see him at all it’ll be minimal.

i think you are overestimating his impact after being away for so long.

And you can be underestimating. No calls can be made till he is back.... so there is no reason that he might not be correct in projecting part of his possible projected trajectory.

has anyone ever been gone for almost 3 years and come back to play as good as they were before, right away? and even at that, he was still not good offensively

He's been practicing with the team and in Lakeland for awhile now. We're down half the team to suspensions. Assuming he doesn't play Wednesday, I'm not sure he ever does again. If he's not ready for 10 minutes during this... something is wrong. I hope I'm wrong because I genuinely enjoy watching Isaac play, but he's either ready or he's never going to be.

In a season where wins don't matter, I'm not sure why they would deviate from whatever plan they have for JI because they're down a bunch of players.

No one said right away... at least I didn't. But the point is... we never saw what Isaac could become because of his injuries. and if the max potential is what we saw in the bubble.... then He is worth at LEAST waiting to see how he does after investing time and patience with him. And you might be right... he doesn't come back and his career is over. But to me... as a fan... you hope that he comes back at his best because that is what all of this preparation is for... while knowing the reality of what the results could be.

true.

That plan has been in effect for like 2-3 years already, 2 games won’t change anything.

Well I know the circumstance is different.. but I knew a guy in high school who stopped playing basketball to concentrate on soccer/football due to more chance for a college scholarship. When he played basketball again, he was just as good. lol

Ok not the same as a professional setting I admit. lol

Imagine he comes back as our starting center and puts a 20ppg 13rpg 4 bpg in the 2 games, only to mysteriously disappear back into our injured list.....

Did I call it? Or?

When Nerlens Noel was 24yo, he put up 5/4 numbers on 13 mpg, then at 25yo, 7/5 on 18 mpg. I would be happy with such numbers for Isaac, if they come with the defense we fans expect.

When you've got two other frontcourt players averaging 20ppg and playing good enough defense, that's a nice fit - especially if sprinkled with steals, blocks, deflections, and general disruption. Pair that with 3 guards who can score 40 collectively and you've got something. Ideally, the next move is for a Lead Guard, next to defensive-minded Suggs, who can score 20 as well.

Some comps that come up for him looking at his 2020 season are 2003 Shane Battier, 2019 Myles Turner, 2005 Rasheed Wallace, and 2006 Marcus Camby.

I'm rooting for him, I think he should be back to that player that he was... He's still in his prime.... Klay missed 2 years of basketball... It took a little minute but I believe he just dropped 54 a day ago.... I don't think he going to look like he lost a step

I'm curious to see Suggs|Franz|Paolo|WCJ|Isaac lineup in action.
