Or trade #2 for #3 and future draft capital and draft Amen Thompson.

He can’t shoot.

I don't think Amen or Scoot are good shooters. To date, Cade, Ivey, and Hayes have not demonstarted they're good volume three point shooters. And all these guys do well with the ball in their hands. They're young and it can change, but they do seem to be a group that isn't a fit.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

I'd imagine with your proposal they hang up the phone at lightspeed.

Hence the "I don't think either Detroit or Toronto would ever come to an agreement in a trade here."

Regardless of how opposing fans may view him, I just think the Raptors FO thinks of Barnes future extremely highly. I mean, they had a chance to get KD by trading Barnes + picks and passed.

Simply put, you just don't trade a top 5 pick who your franchise is very high on in their 2nd year, unless a team is giving you a stupidly good deal like Luka or something. You just don't.

It's the equivalent of you suggesting to trade for Jalen Green, Houston is not going to trade him. Just like Detroit is not going to trade Cade. It just won't happen, not in the 2nd year, especially.

Yeah, I was just pointing out how far off your "second best" offer is. I get not willing to trade Scottie Barnes, but he's your best trade asset by a very heavy margin and nothing else you have even comes close.

OG is a nice player but not really going to turn this franchise around, and to boot he can opt out of his deal after next season which puts a limit on his value to a team like the Pistons. You're better off getting value trading him to a better team, and I'd imagine those are the types of teams hoping to acquire him.

Well no, that's Siakam which is a whole thing by itself.

Also since we are fans and not part of either FO, let's not pretend we really know what's going on.

As it pertains to Detroit/Toronto however, let me raise the stakes.

Barnes for Ivy and Duren

or

Barnes for Cade straight up.

How attached are you to the 3 players?

Yeah, I’m not saying you should be willing to trade Barnes.

Just that nothing else is really enticing in my eyes.

And of course we’re attached to all of those guys.

And while I wouldn’t claim to know what our front office is thinking, I do think reasonable conclusions like “we wouldn’t deal the number 2 pick for OG” can still be inferred.

Ok I'm not even considering trading pick 2 for a huge haul Scoots been so good since he came back. I thought he might shut it down for the season but he wants to play because he loves the game. Hit a couple game winners he really does have the complete package. He will 100% change our culture and we need that,

https://www.theringer.com/nba-draft/2022/12/1/23482652/scoot-henderson-nba-draft-g-league-ignite

Just reading about his background this guy is going to be great. Comes from a basketball family been watching film since he was a little kid. Hes not just elite athleticism hes got the high IQ and feel for the game you're looking for. Hes also a leader just a true game changer if we you land this guy.

" He often meditates. He loves to read. “It can make me a better person,” says Scoot, who often shares his favorite book passages in the family group chat. He’s always been a reader, but the hobby turned into a habit last season when Scoot suddenly had more free time than ever in his first pro season, and realized he couldn’t spend every waking minute on the court. “He reads all the time. He’s always in his room,” says Ignite teammate Shareef O’Neal, “locked in on a book.”

Dudes not grinding 2k all day in his free time non stop like you hear about with many players. Hes meditating and reading.
