Make trades? Nearly half the rotation is built upon 2-way players and guys that were out of the league. Martin, Strus, Vincent, Dedmon or O.Robinson and of course the 90 million dollar 2-way player with only 1 strength who is currently out or adding a needed center who was out of the league (Dedmon). PLEASE, CALL OUT THE FO FOR THE LACK OF TALENT ON THIS ROSTER!!!!! The same FO who made Wade leave (which actually worked out since he recruited Butler to Miami) and limited the roster after making the finals for the failed 2021 plan that netted them...Lowry. It's up to the FO what talent is on this roster and they've decided that getting 2-way players to play rotation minutes and not adding a 15th man to the roster (to just develop) while the 14th man is a 40 year old mascot is the way to go. The FO really needs to be called out way more then Spoelstra. When people bitch about a 2-way player (O.Robinson) needing to play over a non rotation player(Dedmon) THAT IS ON THE FO FOR THE PISS POOR TALENT WHERE THAT'S EVEN A LEGIT OPTION.

Man you are so spot on with this. The front office has been a compete chit show. Small ball this year has been a complete abomination. They went back to what didn't work in the first place which was to go back to being smaller at the 4. They had solved the mistakes with Crowder and PJ only to see them walk after the year and completely revert back to when they tried Iguodala, Harkless, DJJ, Ariza, and now it's Martin and Strus at the 4. Absolute and utter insanity.

Crowder walked because they refused to give him a 3-year deal since that messed up the 2021 plan (which made them overpay on Lowry to not completely strike out on the 2021 plan). Come on, 10 mil a year for a starting level PF that helped you get to the finals is a good contract even if he's only got 3-5 solid years left in him at that point.

Last year, running out a 36-year-old PF with NO real backup was pretty stupid and may have cost Miami another finals run since surprisingly Tucker broke down. Had they thrown a 1st to get someone like Rui or PJ Washington they may have had more success last year AND would be a much better balanced team this year and probably been in the running for another 1 or 2 rounds having home court advantage, as it is now they may be out again in the 1st round.

What I just don't get about this franchise/FO, they can develop players and Spoelstra seems to know how to get the most out of limited players, so why not go out and get high potential guys who aren't working out in their 1st or 2nd stops? I get they need to have a working hard mindset but there has to be acquirable players vs guys nobody else will give non-2-way contracts to.

Unfortunately that is the Miami Heat way. Salary paid is hierachy in this business, Dedmon would need to throw a couple of stinkers while O Robindon plays limited minutes and they will slowly start making the transition, they won't do a hard swap in the way we want in the rotation.

Something nobody seems to ever bring up, how do you sell this move to the owner? The FO sold the owner on paying Dedmon 4+mil to bring him back then a few months later you're having to explain why a 2-way player is playing in front of the guy you gave 4 million for while his stock is tanking? Once again, this is on the FO to be in this situation. Miami could have given the minimum to 2 different players having a 15 man roster vs 14 man roster it currently is at.

You straight up tell him he’s cheap salary filler to help get a deal done.

Spo completely **** the bed last night, wasting 1 game of Orlando’s 2 way eligibility was one of his many mistakes

Also we lead the league in clutch games, every teams offense is the same in the clutch, single out Herro and Lowry on switches and abuse them. Are you all not tired of this? Gabe needs to be in over Lowry for defensive purposes, especially if Lowry is going to be a 0 on offense. At least with Herro there’s hope he can hit the big shot. Put him in the worst offensive player and stop switching.

It’s like Spo is begging his defensive schemes to get exposed

Yep the defensive switching is getting really dumb. Same with the Zone, I think it got beat for corner 3s at least twice to cost us games right at or near the buzzer now, while the switching has cost who knows how many more. We have enough defenders where we can close with only Herro being the weak link, like you said don't switch and no zone then they can't get him on who they want every damn time.

So after an offseason of doing nothing, you're going to tell the owner you're throwing 4 million on a player who is done vs maybe 2 other minimum players who may be better and can be used as trades after December 15th? It didn't have to be Dedmon and it didn't have to be all used on just 1 roster spot.

I mean it’s $4M lol, I’d rather give up 1 Dedmon instead of 2 minimum guys to match salary there. Find someone else for $4M if you want, fine with me but Dedmon was already plugged into the system and the players love him.

Remember this is after selling the owner on Duncan, only to bench him and his 90 mil contract for another g-league player. Unintentional comedy at its best.

It’s now 50 years since they won a championship. Last championship for the fins was 1973. Wow. Yeah the Heat need some introspection.

I think the most interesting thing is when Lebron left, Pat told him he would never win a ring again. It’s starting to look like Pat will never win a ring at this rate. Time for some soul searching.

Absolutely a salary hierarchy. That's what I was told by one of the players when I asked why we didn't temporarily bench LeBron for Mike Miller during his 8 point nightmare in the finals against Dallas. He had a thousand yard stare, made a big sigh, and admitted that it would have been a sound idea to space the floor, but he said that's not how it works in our organization and then then said the EXACT line you said. Especially a player of Lebron's caliber. Short of a monumental collapse like Duncan.

Think about our streak we went on last season without Jimmy and Bam. Changed the defense and was looking elite AF, funnelling players to the waiting arms of Yurt. We didn't even hesitate to throw Yurt to the back of the bench when Bam returned. Probably because Yurt's 3 wasn't as wet as it got during this off-season before he got hurt.

In fairness, most coaches/orgs likely would have kept Lebron on the court aswell.

The example I always go to to highlight supreme coaching stupidy when it comes to roster management is Wade's rookie year, Stan Van was the coach, it's game 6 of the round 2 of the playoffs against The Pacers, and Wade was unstoppable, but because the Heat were down 3, Stan Van pulls him out the game for the final possession in favor of the better 3 point shooter Alston (I think).

At that point, Wade could have heaved a half court shot and it might have gone in, that's how hot he was, and the coach benched him.

Still bothers me all these years later lol

Return to Miami Heat
