Yeah, always tough to judge these NBL prospects. Seems like a good defender at the very least.

To me he's like Matisse Thybulle with a better handles to play SG.

I'm super high on Amen. I might even take him over Scoot.

Anyone else have love for Kel'el Ware? I know his shooting numbers aren't great at the moment, but I can see him developing it over time. Imagine if he turns into Nerlens Noel who stays healthy and can make 3's. How high does that prospect go?

Looks like an awful draft class outside of the obvious guys at the very top.

I would love to get another FRP and get Jett Howard

He's one of my favourites if we're drafting in the 10-16 range

I'd like to hear about his defense, but the shot making is intriguing. He's a long-range bomber in the mold of an Allan Houston or Steve Smith.

Whew that's a hot take.

I like him...a lot. I'm just not sure how well he will translate to the NBA.

BUT I think he has a chance to be special if he can make his 3s

Still too early to say. But many scouts are still not sure how to evaluate the draft after Wemby and Scoot. There is still a lot of basketball to be played though so it's hard to say whether or not this draft is stacked. We know it's got two elite prospects at the top. That's the only thing we know at this point.

The shot looks like it needs a lot of work.

People said the same thing about Ja. Amen is a walking paint touch. Still a notch below Scoot for me, but true franchise player potential

The best way to answer that question is to Tier up. How you name the tier doesn't matter as much as classifying it into different levels. Here's a sample Tier system

Tier 1 (MVP Caliber/ Superstar)
Tier 2 (All NBA / Perennial All-Star)
Tier 3 (All Star)
Tier 4 (Lotto Talent / High level Role Player/ 3rd - 4th best player on a team)
Tier 5 (Starter)
Tier 6 (Rotation player / Role Player)
Tier 7 (Rest in the NBA)

The players after 1 are fluid and not very defined but that always happens. Looking at the number of players though, this year roughly.

2023

T1 - 2, T2 - 2, T3 - 4, T4 - 5, T6 - 10 -20

2022

T1 - 0, T2 - 2, T3 - 3, T4 -

2021

T1 - 0, T2 - 3, T3 -1, T4 - 2

Not motivated to do more but it's obvious that 2021 was a bad draft year by tier. 2022 was better. This year though is special.

Note: 2020 not much better than 2021 with Edwards, Wiseman, Bell, Williams and Okoro. None of those guys are making all-star teams. One of the best from that draft is Bane.

The problem with previous drafts is we have the benefit of hindsight. I like your tier classification though.

Who are the two players in this upcoming draft in your tier 2?

Right now 2 of either Amen, Nick Smith or Brandon Miller but that will probably change. Nick Smith because he can have an Iverson like impact on a team. Amen - McGrady like impact. If Brandon Miller keeps improving - Rashard Lewis. It's fluid so in two weeks I might change my mind.

Your right about hindsight but the last few years we sort of knew there were no superstars. That's why VW looks so good, it's been years since we have seen a superstar talent.

I like Brandon Miller but just don’t see him being tier 2. I see him as more of an all-star or high end role player. He has great size, can shoot the ball and is a good athlete. But he’s not a good ball handler, struggles with creation and can’t finish well around the rim.

Amen is quite intriguing. I’ve only seen a little bit though. Need to watch him more. Very good athlete, can get to the rim as good as anyone, great steal, rebound and assist rates. I can see him being in tier 2.

Depends where we pick. If we're not tanking and end up picking from say 12th to 16th, then Smith might well fall to us and be worth the risk.
