I've never had much faith in him developing into a higher usage guy because of his lack of ability doing anything off the dribble. He can't shoot, he can't pass, he struggles to stay on balance resulting in a fair share of travels, fumbles, dribbles off his foot, or shots that are easy to block. He's a pretty fluid athlete getting up and down the court and moving side to side defensively, but once you put the ball in his hands, he becomes clunky and resembles a football player at your local gym who plays basketball twice a week.
The problem with OG is the lack of assets from the people who would be motivated. It's basically NY or ...Dallas has no assets.
The Cuban thing about "Send help" is funny if you haven't read it. He realizes he's on the clock.
The Pelicans make a TON of sense actually.
The West is WIDE OPEN right now, Zion's health might be the most uncertain thing in the league, it's up & down right now & as he gets older, just naturally puts on more weight....good luck is all I'll say PLUS you have an aging CJ that is at his most valuable as a player NOW. If they REALLY want to give themselves a REAL chance to win a ring, it's NOW (as within 2-3 years tops imo). They can't wait on all these young guys to develop imo. I'm sorry to say it but I'll be truly SHOCKED if Zion makes through his next contract mainly healthy but I definitely don't see him making it through the next when the MAN body has kicked in, those knees aren't taking those anvils on the knees game in, game out. So point being, I think think they have a 2-3 year window, they're in the 1st year RIGHT NOW). You get Zion & BI their version of Marcus Smart, Jrue Holiday, Andrew Wiggins etc...you give your team a REAL shot to win right now at probably the greatest odds you're team will ever have. If they wait on their young guys, in a 2-3 years, Zion's knees are probably shot & CJ is just OLD lol. If I were them I'd honestly be open to a package involving Daniels with one of the LAL pick or Trey Murphy + their pick (and one other non LAL future with either package) as the headliner for OG.
I could see MEM & POR him loving him too but I don't think MEM has a package quite enticing enough & POR will want to keep one of their SGs (my guess is now Sharpe since his ceiling is higher) but Simons imo isn't the solution due to his crappy defence. He's a GREAT offensive weapon but not quite a SPECIAL one where it can outweigh the defensive woes. He's more Jordan Poole than prime James Harden so I'd pass on him. I'm one of the few that would just be fairly happy with getting Sharpe in some collection of other players because I think his potential level is something like Mitchell. But I know it's all just potential at the moment so Raps would likely (as they did) want to push for more picks. I'm not sure what POR can offer & I'm not sure now that they've seen Sharpe up close for an extended period of time & looking how far off POR seems to be from really contending that they'll even want to give up that potential when will they truly be contenders if post OG trade?! Not sure, I think they could make a WCF but I'd be surprised if they actually made the Finals. OG would put MEM over the top if they could still hold onto Ja, Bane & JJJ but I don't like what's left that much and of course their picks would be garbage.
Really though any team that has a talented SCORING duo would LOVE to have OG right across the league.
