A “toxic environment?” What makes you believe that? Because a former player who left here bitter said so?
Quite frankly, I get the opposite impression. These Zards genuinely seem to like each other. And I haven’t seen any indication that they have a problem with Wes.
Yeah, guys aren’t always going to be happy with their minutes or roles…but that happens on every team.
So you ignored a good portion of the other stuff I spoke to, but okay.
Do you not believe we've seen players auditioning for contracts this season and the last? Do you think auditioning for contracts is the best approach or conversely the opposite approach to go out there, play a team brand of basketball, play the best you can (no that doesn't mean trying to accumulate the most gaudy counting stats every night) to produce wins, and the contracts will take care of themselves?
Of everything we know about Ted, and right now just thinking about Ted and his influence over the organization, do you think it is more likely that their is a great team environment or one that is toxic team environment? Based on Dinwiddie last season, the Montrezl issues last year, Kuzma taking subtle jabs at Beal last year, Rui this year, Kuzma and his free agency talk throughout the year, do you think it is all coincidence? Maybe they aren't things most players are going to talk about, especially less established players like Gafford, Deni, Kispert, Goodwin, Davis and so on, but to hum along and act as if the "Zards genuinely seem to like each other" is naïve.
We can walk and chew gum at the same time. We don't have to have mutually exclusive opinions that A) Dinwiddie quickly identified that we have a toxic organizational culture where some players are allowed to put themselves above the team (we all know that why he didn't want to be here) and B) Dinwiddie handled the situation as poor as you could and dogged it here. They can both be true.
Putting our heads in the sand after a feel good win (which again it was great to see us play by-and-large a team oriented game, if only for a night) about the reality of things is basically ignoring what we've been watching year-after-year with this team.
We've turned into a franchise that is a cartel for players to get their next new big payday, if you think any differently, please share your rosy tinted glasses with me, because the current view is killing my eyes.
