A guy with size who can dribble/pass/shoot.

Offense is fun but I think defense first when I think of positions. You are who you guard.

Prob what it comes down to on this team

I had Danilo at the 2 in some lineups I concocted after the trade, but after watching highlights from last season, it'd be a big ask. Today's NBA is fast.

Edit
I think we brought him in to preserve Al without slowing down the offense. It was a pure o over d decision.

WOW BBRef has Sam at the 4 an estimated 78% of his minutes this season
https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/hausesa01.html#all_pbp-playoffs_pbp
I didn't see that -- who TF is playing backup SF on this team?
I guess Derrick -- they have 11% of his minutes estimated at SF
Brogdon and Marcus are about 0% there

So anyway: I want Javonte Green or similar. IDK if Gallo takes Hauser's minutes either late this spring or next year -- would rather the young guy keeps a rotation spot because it gives the franchise more versatility, but if he doesn't, he doesn't.

Cleaningtheglass (removes garbage time) has the Jays at around 78-79% combined at SF. 15% is Hauser. 4.7% is White. Brogdon, Grant, and JJ the rest but very minimal.

Basically, Tatum and Brown back up each other at SF except in games where one of them is not available.

Danny Green and Joe Ingles were old too. Yet Green is returning to the lineup for the Grizzlies 8 months after surgery...10 months for Ingles.

Honestly, it baffles me that there's so many people on here who apparently are so gung ho about Gallinari not playing this year. Like it makes them so mad for some reason if anyone thinks there's a chance he could return.. I swear, some of ya'll are really Nets or Lakers fans undercover lol.

Even if you wanted to put a 9 month timeline, that's May, smack dab in the playoffs. People are just being real and not trying to force a guy to maim themselves so they can limp onto the floor.

Can look look at any of his Tweets and think that anyone is actually forcing him? Truth is, we could use him. Now whether he can be productive is to be determined. But the guy is working hard. He travels with the team. He hangs out and roots for them from the sidelines. Nobody is forcing him to do that.

Let him recover on his body's pace. You can state all the exceptions you hope he can fall into, but this injury is typically not an affliction someone shrugs off quickly. Yeah players can come back early from serious injuries, but it can come to a high cost of him injuring himself because he has some imbalance from the time spent recovering.

It is not worth it for Gallo or the team to have him play this season.

Well we have doctors who can and have been determining his progress. Either way, he's not being forced and he hasn't maimed himself up to this point. I feel pretty sure that if it ever does come to "maiming" either he will slow down or the trainers will slow him down. Until then, maybe we just let it play out.

Clever to not say which Thursday.

I'm a Galloptimist, so it would be fun to see him play. But...

The way he is moving it would not surprise me to see him back by late March. It’s one thing to play it safe with a 23 year old on a 200 million dollar contract, but a guy with a complete career on a 8 million contract probably has no reason to be held out for the season and miss another 10 months.

Agreed. -- Though, it's so weird to see him busting his butt to come back, after a 2nd ACL.
He wants that Ring. -- And he wants to Earn it.

Yeah. He wants the ring. But I think Gallo just also loves the game of basketball and loves to compete. He doesn't like to just sit there on the bench, watching the game and not being able to play. He already missed an entire season earlier in his career.

Most of these guys who have reached this high of a level in the game and have accomplished as much as Gallo has, they get there because of a competitive drive.

Plus, at age 34 he knows he doesn't have much time left (in his career) so he's giving it everything he's got to try and come back and play as much as he can and play as well as he can before he has to retire.

Italians have a lot of pride. *cue the Rocky music*

I'm definitely in the keep him unless it's a significant upgrade camp.

Sold. If you can go by initials, I'll consider you significant.

With some exceptions.... before anyone starts with counter examples. :D

I think keep him for many reasons. If we keep him we can use MLE again next year on another player and add him to team.

Yep, definitely. But, if we need to use his salary now to significantly improve this year's title chances, Brad shouldn't hesitate.
