There is a reason why they are both going to get hefty raises on their next contract. It's because they've massively outproduced their current contracts. Wonder how Miami fans feel while they pay Duncan Robinson 18 million for the next three years. lol.
I understand the appeal but Lebron is likely going to retire within the next two years. They are going to likely have loads of cap space. They'd have about 2-3 years to get their team out of the lottery and that's not too difficult if they can recruit some solid players to play for them. Clippers are a much better franchise but they have shown that teams in their situation can be creative and add talent without necessarily having picks.
It's not homerism at all. It's literally what has been reported by numerous sources. lol.
Trent and Fred aren't massively outproducing their contracts at all. They aren't the worse ones out there, but they aren't necessarily great either. Trent has a net negative out there on the floor and Fred has neutral at -0.1. Both guys have regressed both defensively as well as with their outside shot. Honestly, I just don't want to be the team that is left paying either guys the 28+m annually they will be getting on their next contract. With both guys in a contract year, I just expected more coming off career years for both guys last season.
Betting against the Lakers is a worthwhile gamble. The Lakers post LeBron and a 33/34yo Anthony Davis with no assets is a team that is going to be bad. Which star is going to want to play with an older Anthony Davis who is struggling to stay on the court now in his prime? We'd be betting against an incompetent Laker's front office that spent 6 years in the lottery after Kobe tore his Achilles. They lucky enough to be gifted the #2 overall pick THREE times in four years which they used to trade for Davis alongside all their future picks. Sure it was a previous regime but the point still stands as evidenced by the roster construction around the team now after they won the chip in the bubble.
No idea why your using the Clippers as an example considering they have accomplished nothing thus far. The only reason why they have this well rounded team is because Balmer is footing the fill for the highest payroll in the league currently and Kawhi decided to go back home.
Bruce Arthur from the Toronto Star is not numerous sources.. not a good one at that. Honestly your delusional if you think a team is giving up 3 FRPs for OG. I love the guy, but he just isn't that type of guy to net a package like that.
