How closely? Like having Laurence Frank showing up at Raptors games and stalking Fred like a creep?

He's a decent traditional big man centre, but he's wildly overpaid for that production. Not a player I'd want at $31M/year and climbing.
I think he still has untapped potential. People forget what he did during the Suns first trip to the finals, all while at the age of 22. He has clearly been unhappy with the Suns since they don't seem to appreciate what he's capable of. It's not the first guy the Suns tried to cheap out on.
And what do people think OG will earn during his next contract? It's gonna be close to the 30M mark, which will be pretty damn close to Ayton. We're not in a position of strength so if I'm able to get someone as good as Ayton who also fills a major hole, I'm taking it no doubt.

A Fred package for Ayton i could go for now but,if its something around OG, I would rather wait for the summer when we know where we are drafting and if we could potentially land the 1st pick and draft Victor. I dont see a huge market for Ayton in case we want to offload him in the future if we draft a big.

I agree that we shouldn't take OG for the sake of trading him. Would love to package our first round pick with OG to get the 2nd pick (no team is trading away Victor's rights lol).

F*ck the Clippers, zero interest in helping them.

You’re implying Fred is actually good and moves the needle enough for them? Id personally enjoy watching Fred try chucking bricks with Kawhi and PG on the floor

And what?
Thoughts on taking on Nurkic? I think he’s got the play making abilities in the post, plus a potential force to make other teams have to double team.
POR is not giving up Sharpe for OG

lol wtf. You can dislike a player on our team but your post just screams blind hate. Fred's catch & shoot numbers are slowly climbing back up. He'd be the perfect compliment to PG & Kawhi. Stop hating.

I would say without Sharpe there wouldn’t be any interest from the Raptors side. Which is fine, if they aren’t concerned with building around Dame in his prime. Maybe Portland will sell off (Grant, Hart, Nurkic) to open things up for Sharpe.
But to just flat say OG for Sharpe isn’t possible? I think At 25 Sharpe aspires to be where OG is currently. If you’re 1000% sold he exceeds it, then fine. I’m not so sure.

I was hoping and expecting this to be one of the first replies. You did not disappoint. Jroy have it all.

No one is giving up Scoot Henderson as well.
Forget asking any of the top 3 or 4 to move up to 6/7/8th pick.

Blazers have Simons who would have to be moved to clear up a spot for Sharpe.
Basically you are either building to win now with Dame or in the future with Sharpe. There is no in-between. And as far as I can tell...they are all-in with Dame so moving Sharpe is the ONLY move that brings back a guy that helps Dame.
If Portland was willing to trade the pick that ended up being Sharpe at the draft...they are probably just as interested in trading Sharpe for OG now.

Have you watched Norm since the trade ? Gary has a higher FT%, 3pt, Points, Steals & lower TO's. Norm has 3 more Blocks, 6 more Assists, 18 more Rebounds & slightly higher FG%. That's it. Norm is 29 & signed through 2026 when he'll be turning 34. Gary is 24.
Be as upset as you want, but it was a great move then & now.
He's 29 now, he has 3 more seasons on his contract, the final year of that contract is his age 32 year, not 34. Norm looks like the better player right now, shooting 42.5% from 3 vs. 36.7% for Gary, they are fairly even in most areas, though advanced stats favour Norm by a bit. Norm's locked up long term while Gary is looking for 4 years $100M in free agency, that's why we should have kept Norm, cost certainty. Instead, we have to make cost cutting moves to keep an underperforming team together and there's even the possibility we lose Gary in free agency for nothing if we don't trade him now.
So no, not a great move then and now, we've been paying the worse player similar money for 2 years and now he's a free agent looking to get paid more then the better player.

Simons needs to go. Maybe there is some team somewhere that believes in him.
