Vanderbilt fits into the Schroder TPE. Give the Jazz, a pick and/or Pritchard. Whatever, but giving up Gallo isn't necessary to get it done..
Gallo will be the Celtics version of Utah’s Rudy Gay next year. Utah can’t move Rudy Gay. This is what people can’t get in their heads. Gallo is done as far as being any kind of significant player. Cut bait and move him now if you can get back a useful player.
Gallo was on his last legs (pardon the pun) before his injury. That’s why the Celtics were able to get him for $6 million.
You’re indirectly making the case to keep him. Right now, he’s multi year salary filler with no on court value. Next year, he’s expiring salary filler with no on court value if he’s shot after the injury. That alone makes him a more practical trade chip next year. If he has any sort of return to court value at all that’s just gravy.
The problem with using him in a trade now is that some team is going to make you pay extra to use Gallo as the salary. And we’re already so limited in what we have to trade because of the pick owed for Brogdon that it’s tough to envision a scenario that works.
This off-season we get flexibility to move near-term picks again and Gallo will be expiring vs multi year. Much easier to see trade scenarios then.

That’s great he’s a trade chip next year…what about the idea that ya know we try to go for it this year? Not that he’s gonna yield a huge return but I mean isn’t the idea to go for it now…..

Sure. But my point is that Gallo right now is a negative. So while it sounds great to include him in a trade to help now, including a negative value piece in many cases makes a deal harder, not easier to get done.
Functionally speaking, it’s going to be really tough to make a deal for a role player with Gallos contract. At the price points of most of the guys we’ve talked about here, most teams would rather just skip a deal than have to take back multi year practically dead money salary in it.

Shipping up to Boston. Kyrie too.

Contenders who have the assets? Denver, Phoenix.. would anyone in Cleveland blow everything up and move Mobley? Golden State has Wiseman/Kuminga but that's far-fetched.. Memphis? Portland could offer Sharpe, Simons, picks.. What about a Tobias Harris/Maxey/Thybulle package?

His market was Jaylen Brown and remains so. Maybe TO, PHX, NO, or MEM gets involved. Everyone else can pound sand.

We can get beat out due to having vastly inferior picks to trade and Jaylen only having 1.5 years left, but would we?

We can also get beat out by not being **** stupid enough to trade Jaylen

I'd have preferred that it happen over the summer to have more time to build chemistry, and would need to see the actual trade, but it's pretty simple for me. Even now, Kevin Durant is as good as any player to ever put on a Celtics uniform. Maybe you only get that for a year and a half, but maybe you also only get Jaylen for a year and a half.
As a basketball player, Jaylen does not deserve to even be mentioned in the same paragraph as KD.
