Let's not forget his antics in the 2019 playoffs, in which he pretty much shot the Celtics out of that series against the Bucks.

I'm not a Celtics fan, but watching him completely abandon even any pretense of playing team ball put me on tilt. It was worse than the worst of early-Pistons Reggie Jackson, and it lasted for the whole series.

Are we really not going to make a single trade? Burks/Bogdonovich/Bey are still going to be on our team next year? Could we be waiting for the summer and see what our draft/free agency moves are going to be before we make any trades?

I guess after all these years of having crappy teams, trading vets with any value always made sense. Things are apparently different now. I hope we’re not over estimating next year’s potential and missing good trade opportunities next week.

If we’re not going to give Bey a big extension, we should move him. Bogdonovich is at peak value right now, we really should move him too. Weaver has done a good job rebuilding to this point - I hope he doesn’t blow this trade deadline.

Not sure what he's going to do but thankfully nobody is really hurting the tank. But that also means they don't really win either

Weaver at times has made some great moves, but even with Cade's injury, this year was more than two steps back. Tearing something down is a lot easier than building it back up, and I don't think he's established anything in that regard. The most likely bet is we stand still and just waive Noel, but I will give Weaver one thing to his name:

Nobody has any idea what he might do.

I posted that article where the front office thinks the team is going to be great next year, when anyone can look at the state of the team and only draw the conclusion, that they are all on drugs. Heaping piles of drugs.

Not making any moves before the deadline seems like utter insanity to me. Now, I say that with one caveat; if the offers are bad for what the Pistons are offering, cool, i get it, but when I read that Weaver won't even move Bojan for an unprotected first alarm bells start going off. The bill of goods so far, has been horrendous to say the least, and now there's talk of being great?

Bojan/Burks combo may the the best assets the Pistons have had in a long time, especially if they are paired together. Both are shooting lights out, and Bojan is having a career season. This team, as currently constructed does not, under any circumstances, have the potential to be great. Maybe Weaver ready has designs on a free agent(or two) who will help the team out in a big damn way?

The draft will offer very little help, as they are a rookie. As a fan. I am concerned.

Legitimately concerned that the pistons wind up only making smaller moves. Joseph and/or Noel for someone with a higher contract ( possibly non expiring) and maybe a lower second.

I’d honestly be content if they would just go after guys who most likely won’t be retained by their current team; Jaxson Hayes, Coby White, Darius Bazley (with second round picks involved) etc if it meant they moved off of Joseph, Noel, and Burks or Diallo (not both).

Convinced we’ve got Bey for at least part of next season.

Think it’s time to set McGruder free and try out some two way g league wings.

Wasn't that "great" thing part of a quote from Bojan? He said with another high pick coming in, with Cade coming back, and with the cap space they'll have in the off-season, the front office expects to be great next season.

Thats the part of it that has me worried. "Expects". Trust me, I would love nothing more, but with the current squad plus Cade, and Casey at the healm, I just don't see how thats possible.

i feel like I'm beating a dead horse particularly in response to you zeeb but what exactly did you expect this season? What exactly do you expect for this trade deadline? It's quite likely that Pistons fans overvalue their own player assets as seems to always be the case. Weaver likely isn't getting any offers worth giving up Bogdanovic for. You want the team to win now yet want them to trade Bogey for subpar value. Burks has no value, guys like that get traded for late 2nds. Whoopy dee do. Bey sure but is there any urgency to trade him right now, at the deadline?

Personally, I'm not enamored with the idea of all The 3 B's ebing on the roster next season because they're redundant but I expect Weaver to make bigger moves at the draft when he makes most of his big moves usually.

As far as the team going forward is concerned, it seems to be on track to me with the one derailment being Cade's injury which is something nobody could have controlled. You say they're just adding a drafted player? No, they're adding Cade and there's a wealth of cap space to work with. I won't be concerned until I see what the team looks like in the offseason.
As far as this season is concerned, as I said to you in previous posts. it was designed to be a development season with Cade spearheading it. Once Cade got injured, it was a write off in terms of wins/losses so at this point it's about player development and I think there's some positive to point to with Duren, Ivey's improvements, some improvement with Hayes although a bit flat lately, Stewart expanding his game a bit more. That's what it's all about, those young guys right now and it all seems to be on track relative to expectations IMO. This will be a big offseason for Weaver to see if he can build an actual TEAM now, it's time to get this thing moving in the winning direction the moment this season ends.

I do know one thing, Weaver will make at least one move that we won't see coming and it can range anywhere from WTF? to oh yeah I like that.

Yeah your right. I shouldn't have expected much this year, your right. Rebuilding teams need to rebuild.

Just frustrated with the team. I think I need to move on from all of this.

No man! Don't move on. Alot of us feel how u do. You just verbalize it.
We're on the right path. Maybe Weaver works some magic and turns our expirings into a rotation player.

Duren Bagley
Stew Bey
Bojan Livers
Ivey Burks
Cade Hayes

Top 5 pick incoming

Noel Cojo Diallo ($20mil) expirings

There's still 2 generational talents at the top of the draft that can make you a playoff team.

If not hopefully even a guy like Miller, Cade, Some trades and smart signings make us competitive again.

Might as well just punt this season out of your mind though. I've hardly even watched this year after Cade went down.

Say this entire time Weaver was "posturing" with BB and all the rumors leaked we didnt want to trade him at all are false. In that case Weaver way overplayed a average hand. Now all the teams are focused on a discounted Kyrie Irving. Their was some rumors Weaver wanted a young player + unprotected pick. Well for a little bit more you can get Kyrie.

Two big reasons why you dont hold onto a guy like BB to drive up price action:

1. Injuries hes turning 34 in two months hes not a young buck

2.Just because everyone wants him two months ago and hes the hot name doesnt mean better players like OG and Kyrie wont be on the market later.

We better be trading Bojan for the best pick or young player possible, add burks to that list too. Bojan turns 34 in April and Burks 32 in July. I’m sure Bojan will continue to shoot well but really how much longer does he have playing like this? Value is at an all time high and by the time we are a good team he will surely be an after thought of being a core piece. I don’t see the point in holding him simply to be better next year. If we have to keep one it should be Burks seeing as he’s further away from grandfather time.

I agree if we keep him he plays for us next year, and then what. Do you pick up his $20 million option for when he is 35 turning 36 before those playoffs? He has been really solid for us, and he will likely help us win more games next year than what whatever we get from him in a trade.... but you can also go get an above average starter for about that $25 million in cap space.

The only reason I keep Bojan is if his value is only a late (mid 20s or worse) 1st round pick then I think we keep him.... if his value is better than that its better for us to move him.

Need to make a deal (or deals) to make the team better for the future.

Bogey and Burks need to be dealt

Maybe Bey

Maybe Bagley

Maybe Diallo

We need to make deals to make our team better next year: anything to strengthen the core around Cade, Ivey, and Duren.

How does trading Bojan make the team better next year?

The goal isn’t so much NEXT year. We want the team to be be great 2-3 years from now.

I should have said “in the future” instead of “next year”

I’ve been fortunate enough to live through one championship (and two World Series defeats,) so I just wanna see this done right. If Killian isn’t on the cover of GQ magazine holding his MIP trophy, then we’ve gone catastrophically wrong
