While I’d love for this to be a precursor for a trade, I can easily see Tsai saying to Marks: “If we have less star power on the team than before, find a way to save me some money to compensate for any potential corresponding decline in ticket sales and in-stadium merchandise.”

Yeah I think it was strictly a money making move... Maybe there's a buyout player we fill it with but I doubt it.

After Morris, Edwards was the next one to get cut/dumped as a precursor to a unbalanced trade or signing a buyout guy. It makes sense to save $6+mil when the guys is a likely cut.

We got a fake 2nd, top 55 protected. That's just to make the deal legal, they have to send something.

As others have stated, I choose to believe that this is a pre-move. My guess is we're making a 2 for 1 deal soon involving one of our larger salaries.

Did we get a fake 2nd? I thought we just got the draft rights to a 28 year old in Italy.

My bad, I heard it was a fake future 2nd but you're right. Michineau.

If this LAL/UTA/MIN deal goes through, there are rumors that Westbrook would get bought out. There have also been rumors that John Wall could get bought out.

Do we know of any other buyout candidates?

I know a lot of people dislike Westbrook, but I wouldn’t be opposed to him, especially as a buyout candidate. I think his deficiencies are overexposed in LA considering that he has to compete with LBJ for time on the ball. If he came to Brooklyn as the main ball handler/distributor, his deficiencies would be less pronounced.

Just a thought…
