I don't mind the trades overall, they aren't bad trades. I like acquiring the draft capital and taking flyers on Reddish + Matisse, especially in a year where the West is no longer wide open with that Durant trade. I just can't overlook or forgive going into the second half of the season with an injured Nurk and Drew as our only centers.
Greg Brown the Third was waived for roster space for the trades. Not surprised, only one who really fits to get waived. He's such an infectious personality with how happy and enthusiastic he is. I wish him the best of luck. Not an NBA player right now, so I hope he gets himself into the g-league or with a young team that can play him minutes and refine him into a good three and d player. He has the athleticism and the physical tools if he can shape them.
I'll miss you, Bouncin' Brown.
I feel similarly. There are positives to getting draft assets to either use to pick players or use to grease the wheels of a more significant trade this offseason. But continuing this season with a roster that has glaring structural flaws feels like a slap to the face of the players on the roster. It’s not an obvious tanking move as trading off Dame or shipping off Nurkic and Grant would have been, but it puts players on the roster in a position of trying to compete with a roster construction that is tantamount to management putting their hands on the scale for the opposing team every night. I feel for Dame. I feel for Drew. I even feel for the young guys and Billups.
Hart and GP2 had two of the three highest on/off splits this season. This could get ugly.
