Looks like Dane Moore lied trying to be first and report that Pat Bev was coming back

Hurts his credibility saying it was done deal

Where did he say it was a done deal?

in the works: being planned, worked on, or produced.

Nowhere in that definition does it say done deal. Dane also said multiple teams are interested in him.

I am actually critical of Dane here, dude completely jumped the gun. I was even saying before his tweet that the fit is questionable; pretty much every insider has indicated that Patrick Beverly back to Minnesota is - in-fact - not "in the works".

It's cool if Patrick Beverly ends up coming back, but there is nothing that indicates that Dane's suggestive tweet was accurate. In the end, it isn't a big deal, but I kinda get the vibe from Dane sometimes that he is more-so an excited and knowledgeable fan than a full-on insider, currently.

Yup “in the works” means significant progress is being made to get the deal done and stein and Jon K said nothing is being done.

Dane jumped the gun to try and be the first to report it. Everyone else referenced Dane that Pat Bev is signing back with the wolves because they thought a wolves reporter was “credible”

Now he’s not

I read other versions where he said expected to rejoin the Wolves. That's not saying done deal, but it's not far off.

Between PatBev, Wall, Westbrook, I hope we get one of them. I think these trades and releases also show that Conley and DLo are valued over the other 3 around the league.

Why would you possibly want Wall or Westbrook on this team?

Could be I miss the craziness of DLo? :D I think they could be that change of pace guy off the bench to provide energy and give you 15 pts. Wall was good when I watched him play earlier this year but don't know what happened to him with the Clippers. JMcL kinda does that but I feel he is too much of a defense liability because his size and also lack of scoring ability.

Listened to Dane Moore's post trade deadline podcast and he said that he was told that the Wolves were interested in Beverley. I wonder if there are different factions in the Wolves front office with some in favor of bringing back Pat Bev and some against. In the podcast Britt Robson questioned if he still made sense with the current roster.

I'll be curious where Beverley ends up and I still think he would be a great addition for Minnesota. This team needs somebody to help them break out of the low energy stretches that happens way too often.

Different set of circumstances for Pat Bev if he were to come back. There's minutes for him in certain matchups but nothing like last year. When KAT comes back, I can see a lot of Ant-Jaden-Anderson-Kat-Gobert even to close.

On twitter they show Bev's GPS showing Wisconsin Dells. Take it for what it's worth. Isn't Bev close friends with Crowder? Bucks got two open roster spots with Thursday trade.

Yes, the Dells is closer to Milwaukee than here, but it’s a lot closer than LAC!

I still think it’s pretty unlikely, but the thought of a PatBev return makes me happy.

No kidding! Two guys who can't shoot or play defense. And they would throw a fit when only getting minimal minutes.

I heard another podcast echo this sentiment, and I’m not sure I disagree. I know his play fell off. They added that maybe there is a time limit on how long Beverley is a good thing from an emotional impact as well, particularly on Ant. You know if he came here, he’d want minutes. The team has adult voices that can help lead the team now, and point Ant in the right direction.

This makes sense to me, but emotionally I’d like Pat back. I think he makes basketball fun, and maybe (?) his positives outweigh his negatives. But cutting Bryn Forbes has already happened - we’d have to cut someone useful, either Nate Knight or Austin Rivers (to create minutes), and he might have a relationship with Ant. We also added NAW, who we probably want to see. Does a Beverley return make any sense?

I think Beverley makes sense just from the standpoint of getting Rivers out of the rotation. If Finch was willing to play NAW I'd be less interested, but I'm skeptical that is going to happen. The numbers are pretty clear in showing Rivers has been truly terrible this year (EPM -3.2, RPM -4.85, RAPTOR -4.0), but Finch continues to play him. I would love to see Beverley completely take over the same role as Rivers and I would expect him to be massively better at it.

One thing that doesn't get mentioned enough is Bev's "bad season" was really just a horrible start.

FG%/3P% by month:
OCT: 29/19
NOV: 26/27
DEC: 50/41
JAN: 39/37
FEB: 70/50 (3 games)

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
