Being traded effects literally nothing brother
Not understanding what your saying, you keep posting the same thing over and over and it still doesn't make sense. What is the point?
If the team does a sign and trade to your team of choice when your a free agent yes, that does not mean literally nothing in fact it helps keeping the bird rights for a player because that player is already a free agent and holds all the cards. If your still under contract then yes it does have an affect, the team can send you to whomever has the better assets, as we have been seeing if you want to go to a destination of choice that destination must possess the asset capital to get the team compensation in return. There are also teams willing to give compensation up regardless of commitment on an extension, which makes the market that much harder to figure out. Just because Lillard wants to come here doesn't mean Portland has to send him here.
You said those young guys aren’t going to go into free agency because they’ll be traded. It’s the 2nd time you’ve said it and it’s wrong.
And yes as for Dame, if Dame tells Portland he wants Miami and no one else you better guarantee they’re sending him here.
ICC is right in the sense that if Dame asks out, Portland can send him anywhere. A S&T the player has more power, because he's a FA. So it's a win for the player (gets more money) and the team (gets at least some assets) who facilitates the deal.
Back to Dame under 2 more years of control, teams won't be very excited to send a ton of assets for Dame when they know it'll be a two year rental and he might not report to the team or create locker room problems and bolt the second he's able to. A team would only get Dame at his age if they feel he's the last piece to contend, like Miami.
Curious to see what the asking price would be. I can definitely see a 3 team trade involving Herro to that 3rd team (that 3rd team sending assets to Portland) and Duncan to Portland. And we also send some future FRPs.
The thing is, if Love plays well and we want to keep him. And we want to keep Gabe as Lillard's backup and Strus behind Dipo/Jimmy and ofc keeping Dipo. We would need to send out Lowry, Duncan and Herro in trades. Maybe they all go out in the same deal... I think Herro Lowry makes most sense. We got over the tax a little and then at deadline we either stay a tax team for a year or move duncan or wait to move him the following year. It's all definitely possible.
Lillard / Gabe
Strus / Dipo / Rookie?
Jimmy / Strus / Duncan
Love / Jovic / Haywood
Bam / Yurt / Zeller
Something along those lines. (no clue if the rookie we draft is gone in trade or if Jovic or both - should ask for a SRP coming back)
