Now, if he doesn’t play next season and has minor concerns, then I’m giving up on him entirely. Magic should not hand him a huge contract to sit on the bench 90% of the time.
The past 3 years we've heard "there's basically no reason to play JI anymore this season" while waiting and hoping for his return.
Does anyone on this board play a team sport? There's absolutely something to gain from playing JI with this new crew. Chemistry is a real thing and he's logged less than 120 minutes played with the new core of players (and a majority of those minutes were spent with the bench). If there's any hope he's a part of our future/core, he's gotta get minutes with Paolo/Franz. The only argument for not seeing him play with this new core is to admit JI is a 10 minutes per game player now for the rest of his career.
Remember when the talking point was that JI would take Bamba's minutes once we traded Bamba?
First off, calm tf down with your tone asking questions like that. Yes I played “team sports”. You are acting like JI is playing varsity basketball and there aren’t other asset obligations and strategy involved in these decisions.
The guy hasn’t played professional basketball in forever and is being nursed into minutes. He is being shut down every other game. The FO is obviously not concerned with pushing into the play in if that wasn’t the case. On the other hand, they aren’t going to start sitting starters for blatant tanking like Detroit and Indiana.
The season ends soon. Nobody will even be talking about this in a month or two. Get Isaac a fully healthy off-season and training camp. If he is still “injured”, then load up his next contract with as many stipulations as possible. They have paid him enough money off the court.
