The first one definitely wasn’t.

Both of them were well deserved, now you can go and cry your guts out

There was the whole Limbaugh thing with McNabb years ago. Limbaugh was not a player though.

If you are ever in St Louis and you don't take time out of your day and go piss on Limbaugh's grave, You have failed being a respectable decent human being

race baiting for headlines has always been a classic white person move for attention, Im glad to see a black man now afforded the same opportunity in this day and age to also be a piece of trash

I feel bad for commenting on this thread because this is exactly what espn/Perkins wants out of this

Think about Rachel Nichols, who was summarily fired for suggesting that a black girl was being favored at her expense because ESPN wanted to promote diversity. She's been black-balled from sports media ever since.

Now you have Kendrick Perkins, who's clearly suggesting that Nash, Dirk and Jokic are or were favored in MVPs because of their race and you haven't heard a peep out of ESPN yet. Interesting how double standards work.

Perkins is a moron and Jokic deserves MVP considerations this year and probably should win it but Nichols was out of line for saying what she said about a coworker. Taylor is a talented sportscaster herself and ESPN wasn't entitled to give the job to Nichols. She just assumed Taylor was given the job because she was black and that's that.

Kendrick Perkins isn’t an idiot. He knows exactly what he was doing because he knows he can get away with it. It’s way deeper than that though.

Every single person in here knows that if we play reverse the races that Perkins would be GONE in the same way Nichols is. But People think it ok because of how the media treats these issues.

The reason he can say those things is because Let’s be honest the left believe in deconstructing society because they believe that racism is only about power which is why you can have egregiously racist people say horrible things but because they aren’t perceived to be in “power” then it’s ok.

It’s really not about the race it’s about retuning power to specific group over another at the expense of the other group because they believe in reshaping “the system” it’s about undoing what’s perceived as a power hierarchy not about being morally good.

I don’t think Perk is thinking THAT deep about it but its why he can be a bigot on tv and face zero consequences. At worst they’ll say he got caught in a bad moment, he’ll say “sorry” shrug his shoulders and move on with life and Jokic, much like you just did, better just chalk it up as “Perk being Perk” because how dare he be offended which is total garbage.

At a pure human level NOBODY should be ok with this and if you truly believe that we shouldn’t malign groups then it should make zero sense to think that it’s ok.

The way American society keeps treating racism - extreme outrage when it's directed toward blacks and a shrug when it's directed toward other ethnicities - just keeps making the problem worse.

Perk is the worst. He just says inflammatory ****, except he doesn't have the on-camera presence of guys like SAS and Skip.

On the Nash thing, I have a strong suspicion that if he was a Laker when he won them, nobody would be saying a damned thing about how “undeserved” they are (except Shaq anyway).

Perkins is one of the most stupid all time player turned commentator. He is allowed to say a lot of stupid crap without consequences. I am not sure why networks still hire him.

In a sport that is predominately African American, a white guy winning MVPs shouldn’t be garnering responses like this. Sure the people voting on MVP are probably predominately white, but all the years when there wasn’t someone white winning MVP nobody had a problem about it. Now someone who is skilled and deserves to win comes along and there’s race baiting from his peers? I think this is what is wrong with America today. It really is sad.

Edit: I’m assuming the title isn’t some bait and is actually accurate.

As a black man and a sports fanatic your are absolutely right spot on I really don’t all the hate for joker tho he plays the right way no one had a problem with lebron stat padding to pass kaj and he’s played what 1 game since then the all star game doesn’t count it’s sad that their being up race in the and it’s shameful he’s deserving of the award he’s got the best record in the league #1 seed in the west & he’s averaging a triple double as a center come on man give him his flowers

There's a Chinese gaming term that comes to mind for Jokic haters, Pig teammate. "Fear not opponents as strong as God, but fear teammates as weak as pigs"

ESPN (none of these major corporations) have a moral stance on anything. They’re just going to push whatever gets them the most clicks and views (revenue).

Long gone are the days with ESPN where their biggest names were the Sportscenter anchors. Where the most charismatic and entertaining people became the most popular. Those were the people that moved the needle for ESPN in the past.

With the Internet and YouTube, guys just talking about the highlights don’t move the needle anymore. It’s the ones that get trending on social media, the ones that get the clicks and interactions. And guys that make narratives like Perk is doing get the most clicks.

Think about Rachel Nichols, who was summarily fired for suggesting that a black girl was being favored at her expense because ESPN wanted to promote diversity. She's been black-balled from sports media ever since.

It’s a damn shame what happened to Rachel Nichols and sad tbh she didn’t deserve to be fired she was right and ESPN were on the hit seat under pressure so the caved and fired her smh as a black man I’ve been passed up for jobs I was more qualified for and she felt the same way it’s just someone thirsty sneaky recorded her and posted it on social media they cancel Rachel and her show the jump the show they put in her time slot is boring af and not as entertaining as the jump I don’t even watch it at all I couldn’t do it after 3 episodes but she had every right to saw what she said it’s not her fault ppl are to sensitive nowadays

I think Perkins should be fired. Fair is fair. I think Part of the problem is that Jokic doesn’t deserve to win 3 in a row. Whenever Jordan and Lebron won two they found someone else to give it to Barkley, Malone, Rose, Durant. In every one of the those cases the player lead their team to at least the #1 seed in their conference, if not the whole league. So the real problem here is that Embid should have won two years ago when someone other than Giannis had to win and Embid lead Philly to the #1 seed. Jokic should be winning his second and he clearly deserves it this year.

Jokic is a unique player who deserves his flowers. The back-to-back MVPs were well-deserved. Although I don't know how justified 3 MVPs in a row really is when you have players like Embiid, who acquits himself more than adequately on both sides of the floor. It's almost like Embiid wasn't even considered.

Joker is the better, more efficient player who makes his teammates better imo. Embiid has been in the running anyway the last few years.

We know exactly how considered Embiid was. This award is voted on, not given out. 26 people (out of 90) voted for Embiid last year. 65 people voted Jokic was the MVP. 9 people voted Giannis was the MVP.

People talk about this award like it isn't won through a voting system every year. It's not like Adam Silver decides (he doesn't even get a vote!). No one decides to give Jokic a 3-peat. If he wins this year, it will be because enough people voted for him in each individual year. It might not even be the same people.

Perkins is an idiot.

I really think he is slow when it comes to knowing what is happening on the court.

That's not the issue.

The issue is half the voters are hacks in the media.

How was LeBron stat padding to pass Kareem?
Go ahead explain in a non-Perkins way.
