Tatum has a ridiculously low field goal attempt count in the mid-range. He's a Morey player. Rim or three. He's an elite finisher and he a bigtime shotmaker from three (even though his percentage is down this year).

Just 5.7% of his FGA occur in the 10-16 foot range.
Just 6.2% of his FGA occur in the 16 foot to inside the three point line range.

He wasn't like this 4 years ago or in college, goes to show how much era and rules can change your game, players like Kobe or Melo would play different today.

Makes sense to drop his azz now. It's not like there's any more money to be made on a new contract lol.

Klutch definitely dropped him.

And no new agent news, stunning.

Brooklyn will end up using him as filler salary somehow in another deal IMO.

And then Ben will be out of the NBA at the end of his deal and move on to his promising new esports career.

Scoreboard watching after tonight's game. Really really need Portland to do us a favor.

Of course Thybulle can’t shoot a lick in the game we need him to the most. Neither can Lillard who can go off for 60 against other teams

It’s one of the biggest reasons why he’s a bad ISO scorer with just scoring 35% on ISO possessions. He can’t also blow past bigs who would switch at him, and thats why they went for Brogdon in the offseason for those 1-3 PnR.

How do we get Jaylen Brown to walk in FA and sign here?

If Harden walks?
Talk Tobias into early retirement?
Sign & trade Maxey?

Impossible?

He isn't a great 3pt shooter either. 9 attempts at under 35%.

He's a young guy.... Takes tough shots, but in the games it clicks, he's explosive. In years where it clicks in the future, he can be the MVP. Too inconsistent still right now and same could have been said for a Harden around the same time. Harden has the playmaking skill to support it and Tatum has the defensive potential

I think ya'll are crazy with these Tatum takes lol.

Tatum has been driving the Celtics to success since they drafted him. He's been a dominant offensive player while attracting the top defensive assignment of every team that they play.

He's the 2nd or 3rd best player under 30 in the sport with only Giannis being indisputably better than him.

Tatum was the best player in the league for most of this season, it's just that Embiid is playing at an amazing level in the last 15 games or so and now Embiid's RPM has skyrocketed to 9.50 RPM. But Tatum is still over 9 RPM, that would be best in the league in like half the seasons.

I agree that guys like Doncic and Embiid are more talented than Tatum, but that doesn't mean anything until those guys start to match his accomplishments.

Doncic or Embiid have to get to a Finals to get on Tatum's and Booker's level. And win one to surpass him and get on Giannis' level.

Right now, Tatum and Booker are superior to the rest of the under 30 guys because they got their team to a Finals.

Jalyen Brown against secondary defensive assignment.
Malcolm Brogdon going against tertiary defensive assignment and sometimes outright being ignored by teams due to being focused on Tatum and Brown.

You replied to quick. I actually have deleted my reply

Anyway, that is subjective.

If Embiid plays for the Suns, while Booker plays for the Sixers. And if Doncic plays for the Celtics, while Tatum plays for the Mavs. Then its very likely to almost certain that Tatum and Booker wouldnt have made it to the finals.

Im discussing Tatum as a player. Specifically, Tatum’s scoring.

Where when i dig into Tatum’s numbers there are some things that stands out.

He’s average to bad on mid range shooter
He’s average to bad 3pt shooter
He’s average to bad scorer on crunch time
He’s average to bad scorer in FG% on ISO
Among top scorers he has high% of shots in garbage time and low on clutch.

I just dont see him as someone like Embiid, Doncic and Giannis where they command double teams because they’re a mismatch on 90+% of defenders.

Now, if you look at his defensive numbers, it’s also surprising that he has been average to bad on defense.
